Booked this guesthouse with my daughter and my friend and her two children, had a family room for us all and it was lovely, two double beds and two singles, plenty of room for us all and an end suite too! Complementary breakfast too, very pleasant stay would recommend to everyone.

A lovely B+B. Friendly helpful staff, clean airy rooms and excellent value for money. Within walking distance of castle for the fit, just ensure you wear comfortable footwear. Although, buses do run to all main attractions including Ocean Terminal (RYB), Princes Street etcetera.. Walking in Edinburgh is a pleasure as streets are clean, with good pedestrian crossings and kooky/independent shops... More

Stayed here on evening of 2 May with a friend. Friendly welcome, very clean room with good up to date facilities. Owner took breakfast choices for next morning and was able to change breakfast option to personal taste and arranged taxi for the night. Great night sleep very quiet location. Breakfast was lovely just enough to start the day. Would... More

Pretty nice and cozy place in a quiet, safe residencial area, but still close enough to walk to the Castle and the Royal Mile. Small rooms were enough for us, pretty clean, nice bathroom, comfortable beds. A bit too much light in the morning, but we're all a little too fond of complete darkness. Breakfast is quite early, but really... More

Great location, for the ones who what to explore the more important points of Edinburgh, only with 3 parking places for free that can be a problem if the guest house is fully booked, Breakfast is included and if you prefer a cooked breakfast it will be necessary to booked on the day before to reduce the waste which I... This place in quite near to the city center. Can we walked to a few attractions. Price is on a lower side. 80 GBP for 2 nights. BUT as you stay at the place, for a good nights sleep that's where the problem begins. The wind outside makes weird noises along with the traffic gives you a nightmare. So DO... More

Booked a quadruple room but didn't realise we were over the road in another property, not a problem really. Room was reasonably clean and very spacious with comfy beds. Furniture was a little tired but served a purpose and the plug arrangement for the lamps was interesting!! The room was warm and it was easy to control the heating. The... More

I will first point out this was a rugby weekend and most places run full and 3 times the cost. For a guest house I expect warm welcome "welcome to my home" style, but what we got was a guy in flip flops reminding us that we owed them a tenner for being "late" (22:30). This was something out the... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
