We were very disappointed with this guest-house. The prices were jacked up for the tourist season, our room was small and uncomfortable and it lacked privacy as we could here the people at the toilet in the next room all night. There are only 3 parking places and if you don't get one of these you are directed to a... More

Booked here for 3 nights during the Festival. Was pleased to have found a family room at a generally reasonable rate. Great location and friendly staff. Not impressed with the tired fittings, broken loo seat, stale tea bags, and a most unusual breakfast. Cold cherry tomatoes aren't a feature of traditional Scottish breakfasts but they are here! Daughter had bony... More

The room is nice and comfy. By checkin and check out was not pleasant. They barely say hello and goodbye. And they kicked us out at 10:30am, which is pretty early for the latest check out time. I do not recommend this place. Or until they learn service.

As we had early morning flights, we were not able to partake of the breakfast in the quaint area set aside for this. A bag of bananas and packaged waffles and jam was prepared for us for our journey, which I thought was very kind. Location not far from lots of action. Our room was on the top floor- there... More

We choose this due to the location, which was great,a 10 minute walk to the main area and another 10 to the station. It was not the cosy bed and breakfast I was expecting. We were surprised to find we were to be staying in their annex across the road. We had two double beds with bad pillows in our family... More

It's not all fancy but it has the basics. We stayed in a room opposite of the original place. It was quite of a cramp room with little or almost no space for luggage. Would be okay if it is just for one night. P/s please check the towels before using. I found black stuff on the towel. Unsure of... More

After initial parking problems we did manage to park on site and this was free (I had been expecting to pay £10 at a nearby site). Off-site parking was advertised at £10. However this had gone up to £15. The room that we were allocated was across the road and down the street. If I book a room that is... More

Perfect central position (10 minutes walk from Princess Street and may busses nearby). Nice, tidy and bright room. The staff was friendly and helpfull (they printed the bording cards for us because we were in a hurry). Great breakfast (you have 4/5 options).

I stayed two nights with my girlfriend and when we arrived we were shown to the annexed house straight away (the annex was not mentioned on the website). We were told to order our breakfast the day before. As we were leaving in the early morning the following day we were also told that we would get breakfast served to... More

A friend and I booked two nights here for a weekend visit. We had to book one single and one double as no more singles were available, but on arrival were told that we were in the annex and that my friend could have a free upgrade to a family room for the first night. Unfortunately she had to switch... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
