Stayed for two nights. Managed to park in one of the three spaces outside the main B&B. I say main B&B as we were sent across the road to a secondary house, which we didn't like, and weren't aware of at the time of booking. On entering the room we had a double and single bed, which were nicely presented... More

We were looking for something cheap and cheerful as it was a last minute not budgeted trip to Edinburgh. I didn't expect to get anything great but this place is quite quaint, the gent welcoming us was lovely, room 13 was a good sized family room and we could park outside for free. I haven't had breakfast yet but from... More

Stayed there for two nights. Pluses: 1) good location (nice street and about 25-min walk to castle); 2) free (but limited - there are 3 parking spots) parking if you are lucky; 3) your own bathroom/shower; 4) overall quiet location. Minuses: 1) dated, not cleaned very well (shower or very dusty lamp shades), 2) ok breakfast (have to order in... More

I stayed here for two nights with friends in October 2014. The hotel was a 20 minute walk from the centre of Edinburgh, if you don't fancy the walk you can jump on a bus which collects you from the same street as the B'n'B and costs £1.50 for a single. We stayed in the annex opposite the main building... More

We stayed for 1 night (5 of us) and It was a great price, we had the large family room which was quite big .Yes as a few people have said the En Suite was quite small but we loved the room with the traditional furniture etc! The staff were very attentive especially the owner/manager we saw at breakfast time... More

I was shocked in the way I was robbed by paying £75 per night, was hairs on floor, curtain hanging of the rails, En-Suite very small could not dress your self , Breakfast was terrible bacon ,mushrooms , toast cold, tomatoes wasn't cooked, and had 2 fry eggs ,had to order the day before to get breakfast , Were I... I was looking for somewhere central at a reasonable price. This is it! Walking distance to buses and some shops and bars and places to eat. Warm welcome, good sized room with ensuite shower etc. comfy bed, clean and airy with the high ceilings and sash windows. Freshly cooked English breakfast served in the conservatory at lightning speed...by a friendly... More

recently stayed here as a base to travel to the Ryder Cup. The Hotel is centrally placed so ideal for restaurants and train station(s). Clean & Tidy although the furniture has been "shoe-horned" into the rooms - e.g. the wardrobe door only opened partially before stopping on the bed. Staff were very friendly, breakfast had to be pre-ordered and not... More

I stayed at the Balmore whilst visiting the Fringe Festival this August. I would say that the photos on the website are not truly representative of the house. When you stay here you also need to be aware that there are 2 houses and we were staying in the house across the road, The room was fairly clean but cramped,... More
