We stayed forHogmanay and found it great in all ways. Ten minute walk to Royal Mile so not too far in the cold. The hotel itself was very warm. All staff were vey friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and clean. Would def stop here again.

The hotel was extremely well-located, enabling us to have a full day out, come back for a rest and then go out again in the evening. It was modern and stylish as well as comfortable. The service was friendly and discreet. Good buffet breakfasts were charged separately from the room - would have preferred a B&B deal. Only minor fault... More

We stayed in this hotel twice just after it opened but had not used it since then.I'm glad to report that it remains one of Edinburgh's best hotels. The decoration has not been allowed to deteriorate in the meantime and is still in pristine condition. The breakfast was still of good quality and was plentiful. This is one of the few... More

Using the recommendations on trip advisor, we chose this hotel and were definately not disappointed. The location was great, less that 10 minute walk to the Royal Mile, slightly up hill on the way home but nothing to bad. Check in was easy and staff helpful. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was lovely and... More

I have just returned after a weekend break in the Ten Hill Place Hotel, Edinburgh. Only one word can sum up this hotel "excellent". It is clean, warm, pleasant and friendly staff and the food is good too. I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. As the previous reviewer stated, it is a "hidden gem". I booked my stay... I had never been to Edinburgh before and this hotel made a great base for my stay. The hotel room was very clean and there was heating & air conditioning which you could turn up and down as you pleased - great for the cold scottish winter. It's very close the the Royal Mile and there are many eateries nearby.... More

This is a gem. Very warm and friendly welcome from all the staff. The hotel is modern and stylish with very comfortable rooms. And in a very quiet location, front rooms are best! Great choice at breakfast. Five minute walk from Royal Mile and a brisk 15 minutes from Princess St. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

This hotel met all of our needs, huge and stylish room, very clean, very quiet, fab bathroom. Only drawback bit of walk to the the city centre. But all in all a very good choice, and for Edinburgh a bargain.

The Hotel is situated close to the Royal Mile, only about 10 Minutes to walk. We stayed in an Executive Room, which was small but nice, clean and well equiped. Anyway try to get a room not on the ground floor, because it could be noisy (Reception and Bar are on the same floor). My tip for a unique breakfast... More

On arrival we found the receptionist on a personal phone call - not unreasonable as it was quiet, but we would have hoped that the call would have been ended fairly quickly, rather than having to wait for another five minutes for attention. There were various small things broken in the room - the plug, the bathroom door knob, etc,... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
