Great, clean and comfy hotel in a great position. I travelled during a rugby 6 nations weekend so it was overpriced like everywhere, but room was clean, spacious and well equipped. Would stay again.completely accessible too!

well located, just 10 minutes (slow) walk from Waverley station. The room was clean, bed very comfortable. An excellent nights sleep. I thought it very good value for the price that I paid and would return Bathroom clean and functional - lots of hot water and bath filled up very quickly! didn't eat in the hotel

Me and my boyfriend have just got back from staying here for the weekend and had a great stay. The hotel is in the best location. Just a short walk to the lovely bars and restaurants in Old Town and not far from Princes Street either. I think the hotel is really in the best area, close to both Edinburgh... More

Tucked away on the south of the city centre, this hotel is quite 'walkable' in distance from everywhere you would wish to visit centrally. We couldn't find a thing to fault in our short, first stay here. Generous sized room (111) - ok there is no 'view' but we are talking city centre here - very clean with the best... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
