We stayed at Davenport House for 2 nights to attend a friend's wedding. We arrived at around 9:00pm and were shown to our room by Ian, he was very welcoming and helpful and pointed out where we could go to get something to eat. The next morning we came down for breakfast - the continental spread was very impressive with... more

This was an overnight stay. The proprietor was very accommodating of my very late arrival. The welcome was inviting and my request of an ironing board and iron at the last minute was no problem. My room was clean, the bathroom spotless. One minor criticism was that the TV lead was a little faulty, but no problem once fiddled with.... more

i've been to edinburgh and stayed at davenport house 3 nights; it is a comfortable b&b, with lovely small rooms and a great location (new town). The staff was very kind and helpful. not so cheap, but still reasonable. more

My wife and I have just had a short break here. Situated in the 'New Town' the first thing of notice in this two hundred year old town house is the impressive stair case. Decorated to a high standard in a period theme that suits the age of the property we were impressed. Being in the business ourselves we can... more

On arrival for our two night stay, we were greeted by Ian (the host) who was friendly and he led us to our standard room, which was a very disappointing basic attic room on the top (third) floor. We are in our thirties and fit so the stairs were manageable, so not suitable for the unfit or infirm. The standard... more

It is a six bedroom house that used to belong to a wealthy family and is now a bed and breakfast. Since the rooms were less expensive than staying in some of the hotels and it’s half a block away from Queen Street and five minutes walking from downtown, I figured it would be a good idea. It was positively... more

A wonderful Georgian town house in New Town Edinburgh. Our superior room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Breakfasts were excellent, and the location is right near the bus with easy access to taxis. We enjoyed the fact that during the Festival, New Town is much quieter than many other parts of the city but has very easy access to the... more

After staying at the Davenport House hotel for 3 nights last year then deciding to return for the Tattoo this year we both decided that there was only one place to stay. The Davenport House has a magic all of its own. The room and house is just so beautiful and those gorgeous breakfasts have to be seen to be... more

Davenport House is stylish and well-located, with friendly staff and prices that compare well to other accommodation we looked at in Edinburgh. We stayed in a superior room for four nights and found it comfortable, with thoughtful touches such as provision of a mini fridge and corkscrew/bottle opener. I would have liked a little more choice for the cooked breakfast... more

We visited this hotel for a one night stay in October 07and can only give positive comments. This is a beautiful house which has been transformed into a very comfortable plush hotel with lovely touches to add an air of luxury. The room was roomy with ensuite bathroom and all decorated to a very high standard, with plush furnishings and... more
