I arrived at about 5.30pm when dark and found it a bit disconcerting to be the only guest in the hotel. I was given a room at the very back of the hotel. The room had been redecorated recently and was very nice. It was very hot but I could turn the control down. A large shower with Arran Aromatics... More

Really disappointing- 2 stars for super polite staff and good breakfast. For two people got only 1 key meaning we had to be attached at the hip as light can only be switched on with the key inserted in the pocket in the room and reception being in another building doesn't make it any easier to get back to your... Unfortunately this is not a very positive review. i) We were given a disabled access bedroom/bathroom which was completely unnecessary and felt very characterless. ii) The bathroom flooded after a shower meaning the overflow of water escaped into the bedroom itself, completely unacceptable. iii) Having paid a good amount of money (for a peak time of year) and booked 3... For the price you pay you'd expect better. Plus points the breakfast staff are Fab! The first morning we were there (31st Dec) there was just one lady on and she was great, nothing was too much trouble and she ensured we had everything we needed. Very friendly and upbeat service. The breakfast was also very good, great choice and... More

A nice hotel but geared much more to people visiting the University I think. Breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very big and comfortable. On the downside, the pillows were far too high for us and neither of us slept very well, and the room was cold despite the radiator. Also the fan in... More

A friend and I stayed here for one night during the Christmas markets and were impressed! We got it at a bargain price and honestly didn't expect what we saw in the pictures, but it was fantastic. A little way out of the centre but easily reache by bus and an all day bus rider was 3.50 so not a... More

My fiance and I stayed here for one night on a weekend getaway and it was perfect for us. A beautiful and charming hotel in a great location - just a short bus ride into the town centre. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was among the best we've had on our travels (and we've had many).... More

Let's start with the positives - a smashing breakfast (with lovely staff) and a super shower! The building was also very beautiful on the outside and in the foyer area. Moving on.... I'd expected a bit more comfort in the rooms, such as an armchair and biscuits on the tea tray. Although I was staying there for a conference, the... More

The location was perfect for us as we were attending a conference at the University. The reception was a bit awkward to find but you have to bear in mind that it is a University campus and they are never easy for strangers to navigate. The hotel had a wonderful charm to it and was well furnished and very comfortable.... More

If you have a child attending the University of Edinburgh, and living at Pollock Halls then this is an ideal location and ideal B&B. It is a 20 minute walk to the center of the city or take a taxi from the stand right at the Pollock reception or a bus in front. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and newly... More
