Has a lot of personality since it's in an rambling old stone house, although the floor plan can be confusing. Breakfast ample and quite good, although tables can be scarce at peak hours. Doesn't have as many amenities as a typical hotel (no bar soap, no washcloths, shampoo and body was are the same stuff, shower but no bathtub). Despite... More

Stayed for a few nights whilst at a conference. The hotel is run by Edinburgh University and is right beside the Commonwealth Pool Complex. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Large bathroom with brilliant monsoon shower. The hotel has no reception, bar or restaurant, although does serve a good breakfast. Reception staff available at adjacent hotel next door. A... More

I was staying here for one night for a work meeting. On arriving I was slightly annoyed to have to go to another building to check in, but the check in itself was quick and the staff very helpful. Parking was plentiful. The room I was in (28) - when I finally reached it after many twists and turns and... More

We booked a one night stay and we were not disappointed. We were given a warm welcome by Ramine who was so helpful. Our room was large and spacious and the bathroom was very large with a bath and shower. The breakfast was well worth waiting for so all in all a good night stay but made to be exceptional... More

To start with a good thing, the breakfast is highly recommended, with a large selection of everything, cooked or fresh, including a rich variety of fresh fruits. On the downside, I have to say there's a couple. First, the location is not central, about 20-25 mins walk to the city centre. The "free wifi" was weak to nonexistent, which was... More

We booked into the 'best' room for Valentines day. We'd travelled from Wirral, but god forbid, once we'd actually managed to check in after walking around for half an hour with other couples, was told to go to the pub over the road because we were too early. Eventually, we got to our room. Tatty with miss mashed light bulbs... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2015

I arrived at about 5.30pm when dark and found it a bit disconcerting to be the only guest in the hotel. I was given a room at the very back of the hotel. The room had been redecorated recently and was very nice. It was very hot but I could turn the control down. A large shower with Arran Aromatics... More

Really disappointing- 2 stars for super polite staff and good breakfast. For two people got only 1 key meaning we had to be attached at the hip as light can only be switched on with the key inserted in the pocket in the room and reception being in another building doesn't make it any easier to get back to your...
