We spent two nights. Great location, lots of space, friendly staff. But: shower temperature stuck & not changeable; one bedside lamp temperamental at best; kitchen area floor sticky and one of us stood on a bit of glass; coffee table in lounge area with ring marks. Bed one of the hardest slept on, too. Kind of stuff that reflected lack... More

Dreamhouse Rothesey is an apartment block in the new town, offering accommodation which has all mod cons and large, comfortable, rooms. The apartment we stayed in showed some signs of disrepair but, overall, we felt it was an excellent and affordable base when sightseeing in Edinburgh. The amount of space on offer for the price is unrivalled in anywhere else... More

Stayed at 3 Rothesay Place for 5 nights in late August. The 1 bedroom unit was very spacious, with ample room for an extra bed in the bedroom or common room Clean, nicely decorated, well-equipped, in a quiet, central location --10 min. walk from the west end of Princess Street. Everything worked, no complaints whatsoever. Reasonable price, considering it was... More

Came to Edinburgh on the 22nd of June and had a really fantastic stay. Beautiful room, great bathroom and super facilities in order to cook and cater for oneself. The only bad thing (and not rothesays fault) is the limited amount of parking and the immense amount of road works! All in all, would stay here again! Cheers, Simon-Matthew

Had a lovely stay in Apartment 4 which was a clean, well-presented flat in a central yet quiet location. If only there was parking available close by.....!

Superb apartment!! Faultles. We were speechless when we arrived with how nice it was. Staff were great and gave us an early check in even though we hadn't arranged for one which was an added bonus. Everything was spotless and the facilities couldn't have been better. Kitchen was well stocked with all cleaning equipment etc. Bathroom and bedroom were stunning... More

We stayed at the apartment No: 2. First thing to mention is the 20 foot high ceiling – such an airy and light space. Despite the enormous size sash windows the apartment is incredibly warm and cosy. The open space living room is well decorated and spotlessly clean. Kitchen has everything from cutlery to washing machine. Tea, coffee, sugar and... More

The staff and management were very kind and helpful. Nick met us at the front desk with the keys and gave us a tour of the two-bedroom, two full bath apartment we rented for three nights. The apartment was cleaned every morning at 11am and was given fresh towels and bedding, just like a hotel. The apartment was immaculate, contained... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
