We recently stayed at this exceptionally clean, cozy and welcoming B & B. We were looking for a relaxing weekend escape from our busy London life and this place offered just that. It is located next to the beach, which was lovely to visit (even in Nov!) and yet it’s close and easily accessible to Edinburgh’s city centre. The service... More

Positives: This b & b is in a nice building on a quiet road (no street noise at all, which was wonderful), near a very pretty beach, and the rooms themselves are clean. Not so positive: quite a long bus ride into town (usually took about 25 min), a very regimented atmosphere (at times, just really strange and also intrusive,... More

Hi. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay in Straven in September. I can hopefully respond to some of the concerns raised. The bus is timetabled to take 20 minutes from the stop at the end of our road to Princes street in Edinburgh, but it can take longer in peak times. However the bus services in Edinburgh... More

We stayed for 3 nights and after having read all those extremely positive reviews, our expectations were quite high. And what shall I say - it was just lovely! The owners are a cute couple that tries to do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible, from the clean room with tea and coffee to a delicious breakfast... More

I would recommend this B&B for anyone who is doing sightseeing in the Edinburgh and Lothian areas. You are well positioned on good bus routes and the setting is lovely. Breakfasts are always served hot and there is more than enough, which sets you up for the day. The owners are very helpful and maintain a tight ship. I would... More

We spent one weekend in this lovely guest house, everything was simply perfect from the start to the end. We arrived after the check-in time but was not a problem, letting ourselves in. A super detailed email explained us how to get the guest house with the amount of money needed for the bus and the information on the day... More

We chose the Straven Guest House because of great reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. Lively Mac and his wonderful wife, Marion, did a superb job of making their home, guesthouse, very comfortable. Their breakfast's were delicious, especially the egg and salmon dish. Friendliness was their manner from start to finish. We thank you both for a delightful stay.

We stayed two nights at the guest house. Mac and Marion are very friendly and most helpful. The room was cosy and spotless clean with a nice view to the sea. Bus stop is only a stone throw away and to the beach only seconds to go. Breakfast was splendid. All in all: An excellent choice to stay in Edinburgh.

I am staying at the Straven at the moment and it is undoubtedly the best I have stayed in. The hosts Mac and Marion are so friendly and helpful, the room is lovely, the bed comfortable and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The breakfast are superb with home made yoghurt and preserves and local delicious sausages. You are a stones throw... More
