Arden was adequate for a short stay, except we did not expect to have to pay extra for a 'cooked breakfast' - the buffet was included in the B&B price, but if you prefer a cooked breakfast i.e bacon and eggs etc they charged extra. The room was small with only a cupboard to put things in. Situated on a... More

Arden is a nice enough place; reasonably priced, clean and comfortable with a nice buffet breakfast. The guest house is conveniently located but I think easiest if you have a car; it also has good parking. A minor irritation we had was their free WIFI; coverage within the guest house was very poor, and it regularly dropped out.

The guest house was really good with very warm hospitality. At 11th hour when we said we are leaving early before breakfast and requested for takeaway, they were quick enough to pack breakfast for us with smile. The place is very neat and tidy, its location is also very good, about 20 minutes from Royal Mile. The bus stop is... More

We booked this place, knowing we had a very early departure for the airport. We did not expect them to provide breakfast, but they made all 6 of us a sack breakfast to take with us to the airport. Very thoughtful and much appreciated! There is a great castle ruin across the road - where Mary Queen of Scots resided.... More

We booked this hotel at very short notice, after deciding on a whim to have a night away. We were only able to stay for one night, but wished it could have been much longer! We had slight difficulties finding the guest house, as the sat-nav took us further down the road than we should have been, but found it... More

Thank you so much for your kind review. We do try hard to make our guests comfortable, and I am so glad we hit the spot for you. I note what you say about access to the city centre, . Generally we suggest to our guests that they use the bus service rather than the car, as parking can be... More

I booked here after reading good reviews and seeing that it was in the area but outside the city of Edinburgh. I wanted a country, relaxed feel for our short time here, two nights and needed rest. by the time we got into the train station, the central hub of the city, I had to flag down a constable, who... We're very sorry to hear that your travel plans changed at the last minute and that you found Edinburgh to be very busy on the rugby weekend. We are particularly sorry though that after cancelling on us 1 hour before your late check in, and abusing our staff you thought that giving us a one star rating was appropriate. Our... More

Arrived late but directed by the host as unsure which way to take the bus. Our host sorted us out with breakfast menu and our room. Nice and cosy room tea and coffee available. Good breakfast and only real complaint was lack of pressure in shower when turned up. Just a little too far from central Edinburgh.

We had an unscheduled stop in Edinburgh and stayed at the Arden guest house we were welcomed despite the late check in The bedrooms and bathrooms are small but clean and comfortable. The young man in charge made us feel very welcome and was very supportive when we were un sure of our plans.(our mother had been admitted to hospital)... More

This accommodation was warm and welcoming, free from the noise typical in the city centre, but easily accessible via frequent buses just outside. The staff was kind and more than willing to help with questions, such as dining recommendations. The breakfast provided was likewise good. Bathrooms were slightly tight but not bothersome. Room was kept temperate and beds were comfortable.... More

I stayed at the Arden Guest House while visiting the Royal Infirmary for a short internship. Fantastic service, lovely breakfast, very warm welcome, I would definitely recommend this B&B and come back myself!
