Stayed here in June with my partner reviews a bit late. We are both from Edinburgh but my partner booked the jacuzzi suite for an evening away for us. We were not disappointed room was gorgeous very clean and beautiful decor. Jacuzzi was an added bonus we also had our own terrace at the back and on a lovely June... More

We booked this hotel not really knowing what to expect as we'd only been able to judge based on Tripadvisor reviews. We arrived in Edinburgh at 7:45am (their time) so we decided to go ahead to the hotel and see if they would allow us to check in. When we arrived we were immediately greeted with a warm reception at... More

The Nira Caledonia is a gem of a hotel; nestled in Gloucester Place off the Royal Circus and the far grander Moray Place, set within Edinburgh's Unesco's World Heritage site; the Georgian splendor of these gracious homes and the cobbled streets are far removed from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street, which is a mere ten minute stroll away.... Our travel agent booked this place for us & we truly had no idea what to expect. We arrived after a VERY long drive on a friday night. The entrance is quite un-assuming but this boutique little hotel had everything we needed. We had just finished a week of working & staying in little pubs and couldn't wait to kick... More

Stay for a few nights with my wife. The hotel is ideally located in a nice neighborhood and just walking distance from all main attractions. The staff was great and the service level in line with SLH standards. The rooms are very elegant and modern. The bedding is great and the nespresso machine is a nice touch. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay this past August. I have three small children and we were accomodated in an exceptional way! The room we received was huge and so comfortable. The bed was extremely large and comfy (hard to say about most hotel beds!). THe breakfast was lovely. Although it is not in the center of all attractions it is... More

We stayed here, for the first time, for 3 nights in August.Overall impression was superb. The staff are wonderful....charming,polite,knowledgeable...and good looking! We were made to feel very special during our stay, which is what being away from home is all about. The breakfasts were among the best we have ever had. We cant wait to return.

Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay at this beautiful hotel in a prime spot in Edinburgh. Could not fault my stay as everything from the delightfully cosy bed, to the lush jacuzzi, and charming staff made my visit first class. An example of just how helpful the staff are, was when I had to call to ask if someone could remove... More

Hey Lola C We'll this is the first time I've been referred to as "Spider-Man" . Your review brought a huge smile to my face, not as big as the smile I had after removing the TINY tiny spider from your room! but seeing you standing on the couch wrapped only in a towel after seeing the little guy did... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming and well located boutique hotel. Outstanding service, knowledgable and friendly staff, great selection for breakfast. Situated in the Stockbridge neighborhood, we explored the weekend market, had a pint in some cozy pubs and dinner in several excellent restaurants all a short distance from the hotel. We do a fair bit of walking,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nira Caledonia is surrounded by the cobbled streets and Georgian elegance of New Town, a short stroll from Princes Street, Nira Caledonia is a central yet peaceful Edinburgh retreat. Amid the plush pelmets, rich textures and original cornices you'll find flat-screen televisions, Nespresso coffee machines, complimentary Wi-Fi and iPod docking stations. You'll find warm, heartfelt service and a cool, quirky style. Each of our sumptuous rooms and suites is unique, with its own opulent character. Many have vast floor-to-ceiling sash windows, others open out onto a private garden and some feature a relaxing Jacuzzi. All have new ultra-comfortable beds and pillows of goose feather and down. As a protected Grade A building we don't have a lift, but our porters are always on hand and we offer 24-hour room service. The cuisine at our restaurant is natural, fresh and often organic, with ingredients farmed, caught, raised or bred in Scotland and with over 25 Scotch whiskey blends and single malts, our bar also focuses on local flavours. With a friendly touch - and a touch of theatre - we welcome independent-minded travellers who prefer to go their own way. Come our way. ... more   less
