We stayed 5 nights in Nira Caledonia for the Fringe Festival. The location hotel is amazing, very quiet area, also if you looking around the hotel area you can find nice bistro restaurants. The staffs are amazing, super friendly, professional and helpful. Special thanks to Andrew (housekeeping) done amazing job daily in my room and turn down service as well.... More

We stayed in a petite double whilst in Edinburgh for the Tattoo. Fab place, classy but not at all pretentious, comfortable, really lovely food and great staff. It was a nice stroll to the centre. Would highly recommend. We can't wait to go back!

Boutique hotel in New Town aka Georgian area of Edinburgh. Very good restaurant, very nice and helpful staff BUT rooms very small,no place to unpack suitcases, bath shower inundates room with water, tub very high off floor and nothing to hold on to.Lounge area could be improved. Incredibly slow to release hold on credit card funds.

An extremely pleasant , welcoming and efficient staff. Perfectly adequate hot and cold breakfast. We had dinner twice in a four day stay at the hotel due to the convenience, friendly staff and good food. The staff recommended two other nearby restaurants which were excellent , and made reservations for us despite a very busy Edinburgh season. Our only concern... More

We were looking for a hotel in a quiet location but within easy reach of the main attractions and certainly found it. Would certainly stay here again when in the city. All the staff were extremely helpful and did everything possible to ensure an enjoyable stay. Full Scottish breakfast was very nice and there was a good selection on the... More

Came here for our first wedding anniversary and were totally blown away by an amazing boutique hotel. The interior design is incredible, but tastefully done: stylish and comfortable. Location wise the hotel is ideal if you want a short walk into the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh, but also to be far away enough from the action to get a... More

A really lovely area of Edinburgh! We really enjoyed the neighborhood and the staff was so helpful in every way! Wonderful suggestions for lunches and dinners. It was festival season while we were there, and to be able to leave the crowds and go to our lovely little garden in the back and have a glass and relax was so... More

this boutique hotel in a quiet are of Edinburgh, walking distance to Princes St and the Royal Mile, the rooms each have a personality of their own, and the breakfast is probably the best in Scotland. this is our 3rd stay at the hotel.......so good we keep coming back.

This is a very nice hotel in Edinburgh on a pretty, quiet street. It's really a few row houses that were converted into a small hotel. The Blackwoods Restaurant in the hotel is also very good for dinner and also provided a satisfying breakfast. A few things to keep in mind. If you travel in the summer, there is no... More

Second visit in 6 months, first time with my wife and 2nd with my 12 year old son. Staff incredibly friendly , rooms even the tiny ones beautifully decorated with really top end toiletries , thoughtfully stocked mini bars, a lovely quiet location and a restaurant serving some excellent steak !! Try it you will not be disappointed !!

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighborhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighborhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
