We had a large room on the main floor with a huge bath room (not allowed to use the bathtub though). Our bed was comfortable. Breakast was OK - by this time we are in the middle of our stay and the cooked scottish breakfast was too much. Very quiet. Brisk walk to "town" and then we took taxis back... more

We truly enjoyed out three-night stay at Ard Na Said. While not within reasonable walking distance of the Royal Mile (in our view), there were several good restaurants just a couple of minutes away (we tried two of them) and a very convenient bus route was just around the corner. Olive and Jim provided warm hospitality, and the room was... more

Jim and Olive offered warm and comfortable hospitality. They were gracious in offering suggestions on activities, directions and basic helpful tips. Breakfast was a delite. Jiim made an extra effort to greet each of us each morning by remembering our little favorites. The food was delicious. The bedrooms were lovely. We especially enjoyed the gardens. We will be back.. more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on a visit to Edinburgh for a friend's wedding. The room was a really good size and nicely furnished, with a large and well-appointed bathroom. The building was also lovely. Good breakfast, welcoming and efficient hosts. We lost our front door key at the wedding (not drink-related - I was six... more

This was our first experience with B&B accommodations while traveling and we were a little unsure of what to expect. However, this place was great. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfast great, and the hosts pleasant and helpful (guiding us to some nearby restaurants to eat after a long flight and giving us the details on where to... more

In contrast to the previous review, my wife and I had a wonderful stay at Ard-na-said in Edinburgh. We were clear about our arrival time and, although we were an hour early, they still met us and let us check our bags while we roamed the town. Our room, the Wallace, was the largest we would see at a B&B... more

When we booked the trip, we stated on the form we'd arrive 'after 3pm'. When we arrived just before 6pm the owners had gone out and locked the door, leaving a note telling us to collect the keys from across the road, there was no one in there either. So we waited in the carpark for half an hour, then... more

My brother and I recently stayed at Olive & Jim's guesthouse for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. Their place is comfortable, clean, tidy, with a lovely garden and in a perfect location for seeing all the sites without having to spend a fortune on transport. Breakfast was nice too, with a variety of options available. They do... more

We recently stayed for three nights at the Ard-na-said B & B in Edinburgh and were extremely happy with our choice. Olive and Jim were very gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and provide us with details about transportation, laundry service and restaurants to eat at. We booked two rooms, the Wallace room... more
