Abercorn is a lovely big rambling B&B with spacious light rooms, comfy beds, tasteful decor and good furnishings. You will experience a truly warm and genuine welcome from Angela & family and the breakfasts are excellent and very generous - who says the Scots are mean? The house is in a good location just east of the city centre and... more

This is a lovely, clean and very welcoming B&B. We arrived after a long flight and settled in very comfortably. Nice location, away from the city but right on the bus line. There are lots of wonderful neigborhood restaurants nearby. Angela and her family are very friendly. We only stayed for 3 nights and wished it could have been longer.... more

Thank you to the people who take the time to review on TripAdvisor! I planned a trip to Scotland for my elderly parents through the advice of the people at TripAdvisor. You were "spot on" when complimenting Abercorn Guest House. My parents were thoroughly impressed with the host, Angela McDonald, and Abercorn -- and, they have traveled a lot in... more

Even before we stayed, I phoned to book a room and got such a warm, friendly voice on the phone from Angela. Once, we arrived we were delighted with the very modern rooms and amazing en-suite toilet/shower. YOU MUST CHECK OUT THE COMMUNAL BATHROOM which has the best BATH I have ever seen. And the guest house is facing the... more

We have just spent five night at the Abercorn and entirely agree with all the positive comments made by other reviewers so won't repeat them. Would just add that we stayed at The Balmoral Hotel earlier this year (which is generally regarded as the top five-star hotel in Edinburgh) and, taking everything into account, we enjoyed our stay at the... more

The Abercorn B&B provided us with excellent accommodation and a friendly and gracious atmosphere. We comfortably wandered around the surrounding neighbourhood both during the day and evening and found the area to be quite scenic. more

Bore da (Cymraeg) (Good morning) I had never been to or experienced the Hogmanay in Scotland before and thus decided to make a return visit to Edinburgh. After my wonderful May Day weekend experience in 2006 I naturally decided to return to the Abercorn. Well as I arrived for my second visit I was given a very warm and kind... more

We just got back from the UK and we stayed in 4 b&b places and once in a hotel. The Abercorn House was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Angela has a golden heart and you feel like you are a guest in her house - not a customer. Our kids (age of 9, 7 & 2)... more

Best B&B I have ever been, rooms are spotless , food is excellent and Angela is just the most charming woman I met during my trips. Portobello is a lovely village and I felt absolutely safe and comfortable. I recommend it to a lot of people and will always choose ABERCORN GUEST HOUSE when I plan to travel to Edinburgh. more
