Spent a lovely weekend at the Kenneth Mackenzie. The room was small but had everything you need for a stay there. It was quiet and central enough.. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of fruit. We were able to leave our bags on arrival and also on our day of leaving. Great place to stay, we will definitely visit... More

It is a lovely hotel the staff are very welcoming and helpful only thing I could say was wrong was we were on first floor and others staying at hotel making a noise when they came in. It is only a short walk from the train station and only 2 mins in a taxi. More

Spent a great weekend in Edinburgh. We stayed at the Kenneth Mackenzie which is part of the university and appears to be halls of residence. The room was small (room 305) but contained everything that was needed for an overnight stay. The beds, bedding and towells were clean and fresh. There was a Flat screen TV, tea and coffee making... As I discovered only days before, this hotel is not privately owned, but is operated by Edinburgh University and in fact on arrival this becomes totally obvious. The hotel is in a busy area of the old town, situated off the main road in a quite street, and is easily reached by foot from the city centre. The building is... More

Stayed for one night while in Edinburgh for a meeting. The accommodation is basically like a student hall of residence in fittings and ambience. Room was compact, but reasonable basic level of facilities - and a flat screen tv. Bathroom very compact - but with a classy shower gel provided. The breakfast was actually pretty good. All in all, a... More

Kenneth Mackenzie is close to the centre in a student neighbourhood, which means that there are lots of nice and cheapish places to eat nearby. The room was quite small, but spotlessly clean and it also had a TV and a nice view of Arthur's Seat. The breakfast was very good with good service and a great choice of cooked... More

Do read their terms and conditions carefully. I tried cancelling a booking with just over two weeks' notice, but was told that had I bothered to read things more carefully, I'd have seen that three weeks were necessary for any refund and even then, I'd note have received it all. Not accepting a cancellation (with refund) upon two weeks' notice... More

Think student accommodation - pink woodchip wallpaper and artex ceiling. Room was small but very clean. The shower/toilet room was small but the shower was very good. Staff were efficient and obviously working to systems. A very good place if what you need is just a bed for the night in a reasonably central location with no frills. The breakfast... More

Kenneth Mackenzie Suite‏ offered a simple but comfortable solution for a few day prolonged stay in Edinburgh. Indeed the room was small but provided all the comfort that one needs when exploring a new city (clean room, fresh towels, internet connection, TV, calm location and good public transport connections, turistic material, the only imperfection was NO lift). And they provide... More

I had to spend a few days in Edinburgh and didn't want to spend too much money. I got a single room at the Kenneth Mackenzie suites and it was actually a great deal. The room was small - but not to the point of discomfort - and it was pleasantly appointed and spotlessly clean. There was a flatscreen TV... More
