what a nice wee cozy hotel good priced budget hotel could do with a update as we are now in 2010 and the furnishing is very dated but apart from that we can not complain the room was clean and even had tea/coffee facilities room was large and nice and warm for us checking in which is unusual in hotels... more

Hmmmm... Out of the two members of staff that we had the misfortune of meeting, both were sour faced and desperately in need of some fun and a personality transplant. This hotel is not a patch on faulty towers. At times I forgot we were in Scotland and instead, somewhere nearer the eastern block europe, with regards to the amount... more

Was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on this site after booking but the hotel was fine. Basic, but fine. The rooms was small, the carpet worn and had a tiny TV with no remote but it was clean, warm and the shower was good. Free Wifi was available in the downstairs bar, though not in the... more

We'd recommend pulling the curtains shut and... more

Very run down hotel. Beds uncomfortable. Our room was over the Irish bar noisy on a week day. This is more like a hostle suitable for young people perhaps on a buget. You can get better accommodation for the same price Breakfast ok in the bar next door. At lunch time they serve good size portions. Great location with excellent... more

The receptionist with red hair was the most unhelpful person I have met but all the others were great!! room was fine..... although the bed was broken on one side, and the heating was a radiatior which i did not trust to leave on while we were... more

We stayed for one night my daughter and i as we were visiting the school of art. I doubt you will find a better location of hotel in Edinburgh for the very economic price. OK so the carpets are a little torn and there are bits of doors needing repair etc but for goodness sake it does not claim to... more

we had a fantastic time at the GrassMarket, yes it is above a pub but this is very clear when you book it so people shouldnt moan about it, and actually for 3 nights we heard hardly anything from the pub. The hotle was lovely and clean, the service was great and I contacted the hotel before to discuss surprise... more
