We booked this for hen weekend. HUGE MISTAKE, what we got was not what was advertised. We certainly didn't request the company of mice and their droppings which were everywhere! The owner IAN SCOTT was rude and aggressive to us when we complained even calling us "little cows". He refused to give us our money back and seemed to know... More

Please please please cancel any bookings for 7b West Maitland Street Edinburgh We arrived - a party of 22 including mothers and grandmothers - to find the filthiest , smelliest , flea bitten , mice infested "apartment " we have ever had the misfortune to be in !!! As there were so many of us we had to stay the... More

Although I booked 2 nights for 4 people the owner did not show. In fact, the apartment was already taken by 22 hen party girls. I called the landlord who immediately started screaming at me negating the reservation that I had in hand and called upon me to leave his property if not " you will regret it " were... More

A group of 18 of us just stayed here for the weekend. It was not good. We too had the visit from the police as we arrived, although they were very friendly towards us. The apartment was run down in places and did not offer the facilities advertised: no hot water in the kitchen, impossible showers that ran from freezing... More

This flat has got some sort of control order on it and is only allowed to have 10 people in it. My friends had booked on line and said there were 16 of them and the booking was accepted and they paid in advance. Two policemen came to the door soon after they arrived and told them about the control... More

We were utterly shocked by how different this 'Bed and Breakfast' was in reality compared to the stylish and clean appearance portrayed by the photographs online. The rooms were dank, dirty and there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke despite the non smoking legislation in the UK! This is may suit backpackers with low expectations. We did not stay... Just to be clear this is the Edinburgh City B&B on west maitland St and I believe it is affiliated with Festival Apartments. A few small courtesies always go a long way such as replacing the lightbulb after promising to-is it too much to ask to see my face in the bathroom mirror?, giving perhaps a facecloth and hand towel,... In case anybody is looking at booking a room at Edimburgh City Bed and Breakfast, forget it. It's not a bed and breakfast. Dirty rooms in a dirty bulding. It's ok for backpackers, and should be not more than 40 pounds 2 persons. The picture of the room on the website (booking.com) looks good, but don't be fooled like I... More

We had the misfortune of booking two double rooms in this b & b for 4 nights. We booked it in January 2008, sent a deposit of 130 euros in February, and arrived in Edinburgh in May only to find out that it has closed down. All the land lines were disconnected, noone was there to answer the door and... More

I booked 10 people in for a hen night in June 07. I live a couple of minutes up the road and was organising the hen weekend, so went in and spoke to the owner a few weeks in advance. He was perfectly pleasant and said they receive a lot of hen/stag parties and that this was no problem. The... More
