Hello Hotel Hunters! During April 2014, we stayed at Brae Lodge for 4 nights [3 nights as solo female guest, joined by husband on the 4th night]. Like most people, we read the best and worst 'tripadvisor' reviews before booking. Looking back on our stay, and re-reading the lowest rated online comments, it's a shame that some people didn't enjoy... More

Brae Lodge is conveniently located, off street parking, bus at the door and Edinbugh has a great bus service to access all the attractions. Accommodation is a bit basic, smallish room with ensuite built into original bedroom - notice other reviews indicate more spacious rooms. We had a nice quiet room at the back. Nice fast WiFi but tiny TV... More

Hello Sue & Ken, A big thank you for the "Very Good" score in 4 areas of your review. Any customer feedback is important to us but we would like to clarify that at the time you booked online back in December, both the standard & larger twin were available. You must have felt that the rear facing twin was... More

We had a great stay at the B&B. Lesley was fantastic, helping before hand organise bringing our one year old. They worked with a sitting service too on the night we went to the tattoo. The bathroom was small but the room was really spacious, it was a lovely experience. Will stay again definitely! Great to be in a quieter... More

My daughter, her friend and myself stayed at Brae Lodge over the New Year - we arrived a little late from the airport, but Neil assured that all would be ok. When we arrived Neil showed us to our room, and was very friendly and happy. Our room was very comfortable and clean, the bathroom plenty big enough for three... More

If you want somewhere friendly where you can feel at home then this is it. Set in a close residential area to the centre in an up market part of the city this guest house is a hidden gem. The house retains some attractive period features and the rooms are clean and well appointed. The hosts Neil and lesley were... More

Just what we needed for a couple of nights visiting Edinburgh. Nice comfortable bed (I often struggle in this area, as beds are often too soft and/or too short- neither were an issue here). Very spacious room (at the front) even with a travel cot as well as the double bed. Bathroom small but very well laid out to make... More

Had a great stay at Brae Lodge. En-suite bathroom a little small but very clean and did the job. Rooms were lovely and clean and well presented and beds very comfortable. The location is excellent. Bus stop into town is virtually at the door. It is an easy drive up from the ring road without having to go thru downtown. The staff was friendly and the breakfasts were quite good. Try the haggis omelet. I'm glad I did. Not a whole lot of places to eat in the area, but we... More

Our room was on the small side, so I was at first disappointed. Then I discovered how convenient the bus stop was, and got to chatting with the host and hostess who were truly delightful and I realized that the size of the room was inconsequential. The breakfasts were really good, not the standard "full Scottish breakfast," but really much... More
