Would not recommend to anyone! Dirty rooms, staff never available, bathrooms out of order. I arrived at 4pm to no one on reception, had to wait half an hour for someone to wander in. No linen in my dorm until 9.30pm because they'd not done the washing yet. Lots of live in staff and long term stays, which does not... More

is a small hostel, with a lot of stairs!! bedrooms small and not very clean, i meant, the bed and the sheets are clean, just the smell is not properly desirable! the kitchen is very small for all the people in the hostel, but there is everything you could need! only problem is the shower, there is not a middle... Really nice ensuite bedroom for the price even though the beds were quite poor. Kitchen was kind of a mess but what can you do about it when it's crowded... Bad Wifi Really nice and Friendly reception ! and Helpful Good location as well (even though it was a bit far from the heart centre), app. 20 min from the... More

First of all there was no one at the reception and we had to wait for 1h. The bathrooms and kitchen are not clean (in the kitchen cuttlery is everywhere, dirty dishes are in the sink and on the only table), the sheets on the bed were not clean either. Too expensive for a bed that is falling apart and... More

I never imagined a place can be as bad as this one. I dunno where to start from. The staff..if you're lucky, you'll find their staff (Emma) who looks after the reception and if you do she'll be drunk or smoking on your face anyways. No courtesy. The place is a mess. I think this place must have been hoovered... More

I didn't enjoy staying at this hostel. First and foremost, and this is the reason I'm never coming back: TERRIBLE, I mean TERRIBLE INTERNET CONNECTION!!!!! If more than two people attempt to connect at one time, you get booted off, or the internet stops working and the router has to be reset. This happened, no exaggeration, about 15 times in... More

I was expecting it to be a lot worse if I'm absolutely honest, but I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst I didn't have much interaction with staff they seemed friendly enough. To say the long term residents were characters would be an understatement. The hostel did what it said on the tin, providing cheap yet comfortable accomodation. The code on the... More

Clean friendly welcoming staff. Free WIFI. In the heart of Edinburgh Very Affordable Nothing more I could ask for really when travelling Europe with friends. You get what you pay for, and I think Boutique gives you more for your money.

I've been in this hostel for 4 nights in a six beds ensuite toilet dorm. The hostel il located in Prencess Street near the tram stop. The entrance is in the ground floor but the reception is in the first floor and sometime it's impossible to pay by credit card. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the reception is... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
