I've stayed in much pricier / fancier hotels that weren't as good as this one. It's clean, modern, welcoming and un-pretentious. I often struggle to sleep in unfamiliar beds: on one trip, staying at different hotels from a different hotel chain, I didn't sleep a wink in 2 nights, but I had no such problem at this Premiere Inn: The... Not being a fan of Premier Inns I was somewhat disappointed to find I had been booked here overnight. How wrong was I !! A very good location being within easy walking distance to most places, a basic room but a such a comfortable bed I didn't want to get up next morning. The hotel was clean and the staff... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect. The staff at the desk was very helpful to us with tours, directions and restaurants. The breakfast was a good value, and convenient. The bus stop was easy to find for the hop on, hop off tour. We could easily walk to the Grass Market area where there were a... More

Such a shame this hotel staff and location are spoilt by noise. The whole part of the Premier inn experience means you expect a good night sleep. We stayed on 2nd floor backing into hotel opposite. Noise all night through to 5am with delivery drivers turning up loading and unloading to neighbouring hotel. Complained got free breakfast and was moved.... More

Enjoyed a three night stay in May. Close to The Grassmarket and Castle. On a couple of good bus routes - the 35 leaves close by and goes to the Airport for £1.50. Also on the route of the hop on, hop off bus tours. Short walk to the Royal Mile, National Museum and Greyfriars Bobby. Standard Premier Inn bedroom... More

Typical premier Inn, good location, comfortable bed, not noisy. It was handy to Grass Market restaurants, easy walk to the Castle if you are fit, on bus routes (including hop on-hop off), staff were attentive. There is a small Sainsburys nearby if needed.

We had a pleasant stay at Premier Inn, Lauriston Place. The hotel is close to the bus stop, where we used it to take on “Hop-On Hop-Off” bus and enjoy our sightseeing tour around the city. Still, if you are tourists, it requires a 20 minutes walk to the city center. Even though it is situated next to the main... More

The staff in this hotel are beyond compare. On Tuesday 19/05/15 , our 25 year old daughter Kimberley Youngson was staying here for a week with her son & fiance . She tragically passed away very suddenly while out sightseeing. We arrived later in the day from Peterhead to visit & help out with all the things that had to... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
