This hotel was very conveniently located. We almost stayed at the Princes Street location and I'm glad we chose this one instead. It was very easy to get to everything and it was located in a less busy area. The 35 bus stops right outside and runs to the airport for £1.50! No wash cloths and the duvet is very... More

I stayed here as my normal hotel was full however I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the stay. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Free wifi is good for a budget hotel. The location is great, short walk from city centre and therefore set back from the main strip of bars etc. breakfast was good and great... More

The Premier Inn in Lauriston Place is a modern hotel with large, well furnished rooms. The bed is probably the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in and the en suite has a bath and excellent shower. Breakfast at busy times can best be described as a tad chaotic, and your chances of getting to the hot buffet... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in March and it was everything I have come to expect from a Premier Inn - clean and spacious room, friendly and helpful staff and a good nights sleep guaranteed followed by a wide range of choices for breakfast. The reception and restaurant staff were all polite and helpful, pointing us in the right direction... More

I spent 3 nights at Premier Inn, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh and it was the perfect base for me to attend a conference. Close to the city centre and all the tourist attractions especially the castle etc. It was clean, comfortable and secure. The staff in reception and the adjoining restaurant and bar were very helpful and friendly. The room was... More

We stayed here for a short 3 day stay in Scotland and really enjoyed it. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from Waverley train station, you can walk through the town or take the scenic route through Princes Street Gardens. Our room was quite small but clean, well equipt and very quiet at the back of the building... More

Very near castle. About 15 to 20 mins walk to New Town. Some great places to eat and drink nearby. V friendly patient staff who dealt very well with tired tourist questions from jet lagged people. Free wifi. Hotel was expensive for what it is, as it is in need of a refurbishment. Quiet inside hotel, but hard to get... More

Lets face it, most Premier Inn's are the same, it's just a matter of hold old and how busy usually. Lauriston Place is clean and comfortable, bed was great, air con worked, room was quiet, staff courteous and friendly. My only gripe was the lifts were small and quite slow meaning a wait, but minor a quibble. On a map... More

Staff very friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble they go extra mile to make sure your stay in the hotel is enjoyable. Good location for visiting Edinburgh Castle and old town. Me and my friend really enjoyed staying there.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
