Great central location, with Hop on, Hop off bus stop just across the road. Easy walking distance of Museum of Scotland too. Very clean and comfortable room. Staff very helpful and polite. Option to leave luggage before and after check-in/out (free).

This is your typical Premier Inn property. A dependable place to stay, clean room, nice staff, great breakfast buffet! There is pay parking (reasonable price) pretty close by and you can easily walk to attractions city from here. We walked to and from Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile from here. It was a very pleasant and safe walk. We... More

Spent two nights here. Staff were very helpful throughout. Gave impression that nothing was too much trouble. From booking restaurants and cabs for us to helping when we needed plasters! Pretty easy to locate, not quite as central as some of the other hotels but only approximately a 15/20 minute walk from Waverley Train station and short walking distance to... More

Typical Premier Inn with the new comfortable beds in. Nice and quiet. Good size rooms, tea making facilities, good wifi. The location is not as good as some of their other Edinburgh hotels and is a little tricky to find, but this is reflected in the price being considerably cheaper than Princes Street.

This hotel is in an excellent location with the castle within walking distance as well as a good variety of shops and bars. The breakfast offers a good variety of food both hot and cold although a little expensive at £9 a head but children do eat free! The staff were all friendly especially those on reception. You do get... More

I was due to sit an exam over a two day period and so had driven from Birmingham the day before to stay two nights before travelling back. Excellent location in regards to proximity to my exam venue (Royal College of Surgeons) but also some historical sights and shops etc. Excellent location. The staff were exceptional helpful. I bugged them... More

I like to stay in the Premier Inn from time to time for 2 reasons. Firstly; you always know what you get. rooms are mostly furnished the same way, they are mostly modern, and they are airconditioned. Secondly, if there is a good price on their website it is good value. This hotel is well positioned relative to the New... More

Me n my partner recently stayed a few days here for my birthday... The hotel itself is in a great location. The staff where very friendly. Upon arrival we where 2 hours early but where still able to check in which was great as we didn't want to take our bags round Edinburgh with us. The room is a good... More

This is the first time I have stayed in the Premier Inn. the reception staff when we arrived could have been more friendly , we did notice though they had a better attitude later on in the day. Staff at dinner and in the morning could not be more helpful. It is an older style Premier Inn and could do... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
