Room was excellent, staff very friendly and Helpfull. Food very very good. It is in a good location to visit the castle, lots of buses pass the hotel and the no 35 takes you to the ocean terminal to visit the Britannia royal yacht.

Thus is only 10 minutes from University and from grassemarket and city centre so good location. Drawbacks us the cooked breakfast which is served from hot plates and not really fresh....the scrambled eggs had sat there for 20 minutes before I tried them. The desk is really small if you want to do some work. I had no WiFi for... More

Great if you want to go sightseeing, 10-15 mins from the castle but also great just to chill have a hot bath and watch television on the cosy bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, will be back to stay when I return to Edinburgh.

Great stay - room was just what we needed, staff couldn't do enough to help and were very polite, food was lovely. Location was perfect for us as it was a short walk to everything we wanted. Would definitely come again.

It is about a 15-20 walk from Waverley Station. Premier Inn is very close to the Castle and The Grassmarket area of Edinburgh, which has some lovely cafes, bars and restaurants. Having said that Premier Inn also offers some very nice food too. I would certainly go back again.

The hotel is in a good location. There is no parking but an underground car park about 200 yards down the road, where the hotel will stamp your card giving you a 20% reduction. We paid £12 for 24 hours. Hotel is clean and comfy and located close to the castle and shops.

Great hotel, really good location, everything felt very new and very clean, very quiet rooms and comfy beds. The bathroom was spotless, staff very friendly & welcoming. The full breakfast was very good value, the children ate for free, the service and choice was excellent and you could eat as much as you liked, the setting in the dining room... More

Short stay in Edinburgh and didn't want to pay top price for Princes Street location. However, the location of Edinburgh Central on Lauriston Place was perfect for us. £5 for taxi from Waverley train station for four and luggage. 5 to 10 minutes walk to Grassmarket. Quiet hotel - very helpful staff.

We love premier inns we have stayed in quite a few over time but on this occasion we didn't get to stay as we had a urgent family matter to attended to so so upset we couldn't enjoy the hotel. The staff and hotel are fabulous in a nice area close to car park maybe we might get a chance... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
