A great welcome from Neil. Very nice twin room with en-suite, beds very comfortable and clean, rooms cleaned every day. Towels nice and thick, breakfast lovely and plenty too, sadly I was not able to eat all mine. This guest house is well placed for the city and is served by frequent buses, the short bus ride (£1.50) takes you... More

Small room, but nice bathroom across the hallway. Easy to get to town centre by bus. Missed a living room/ common room to use at night. Quiet area and close to a small park. Friendly host with very nice, big dog.

Stayed here for 3 days. Lovely wee guest house. Neil was a fantastic host his hospitality was 2nd to none. Room cleaned every day, fresh towels everyday. We were up in the attic in a small room but adequate 4 2 ppl. The cooked breakfast every morning looked amazing but i only had cereal. Only 2 miles from city centre... More

Warm welcome received from Neil on arrival. Room was very clean with lovely thick fluffy towels. Very accommodating, breakfast was as ordered. Just a small thing attention to dud/missing light bulbs and perhaps the door of the en-suite need attention. Guest house is an approximate 20 minute leisurely walk into the city centre, or for a bargain price of £4... More

When we first arrived, we were greeted my Neil and I must he's one of the most friendly, down to earth people I've ever met. His service was outstanding and made you feel special, even down you the little things like remembering I had scrambled eggs instead of fried. It really is the little things when it comes to this... Stayed here for 4 nights and it was just perfect. It's not that expensive and you get good service for the money you pay. The rooms are cozy and clean. The service is very good and the owner Neill is very kind. Breakfast is good en well served. It's a long walk to the centre of the city, but the... More

My husband and I often visit Edinburgh to visit family for weekends. Have stayed at Smith's Guest House several times a year for the last 5 years. Within 30 mins walking distance of the Royal Mile (we can do it and we're in our 60's and 70's). Neil and Moyra are friendly hosts. Tasty breakfast and basic nice clean room.... More

I was a bit wary of booking this place because of some of the negative reviews, but I only needed somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights, and it was very cheap, so I risked it. It's absolutely fine - really good value for money. A previous reviewer complained about the smell of dog, and yes, when you enter... More

Clean and simple guesthouse - I really Enjoyed our stay here. We had come up to Edinburgh for a weekend stay. We arrived late but the landlord had organised a means of making sure we got our key. We had the last room in the house which was up in the eaves. It was quite little but perfectly functional and... More
