I booked this 6 months in advance for The Fringe for a friend and I. Two single ensuite rooms through Booking.com. When we got here, they only had shared bathrooms for us for the same price. The location could not be any better and in good spirits we couldn't be bothered to argue. Very basic is the word for this... More

Have stayed here a few times when visiting for the Fringe and, for that purpose, the location couldn't be better. Basic but perfectly adequate accommodation with friendly staff. The only reason I couldn't give it an extra star was the lack of lift (I was on the fifth floor!). But apart from that, it was fine. I saw a review... More

I stayed here for three days with my wife under Edinburgh International Festival. The rooms are very simple, but has soft beds, desk and cabinets. There was a lot of noise in the streets, but we stll managed to sleep. The location is great, in the middle of Old Town with lots of restaurants, bars and things to see. Shared... More

Stayed here two nights in two rooms. It is a great location in the old town but can be very noisy at night especially if you get a room facing the street. The rooms are very basic and you are depending on having nice neighbors in your 5 bed apartment. Our neighbors were ok except for a bit of talking... More

The beds were old and uncomfortable. The bed linen seemed clean but there was dried vomit on the wall of the bed room. The kitchen seemed clean but was not cleaned in the three days we were there and there were no sponges of t towels and very little of anything else. The bathrooms were dirty. I ended up cleaning... We booked this hostel to enjoy the commonwealth games and fringe. It cost £80 a night in student accommodation we expected basic but were so surprised how awful it was. An extra single bed was thrown in a very small room so it was very cramped at that stage it did not feel too bad, but then night came and... More

The location is pretty good but you will need to walk up a really steep hill to get to the main streets. However the hostel is noisy - inside and outside. Walking on the floors was like walking on bubble wrap, the walls were very thin and the doors are quite loud. There's a bar downstairs that gets loud every... More

We were gratefull for the bed regardless of the noise. Price was good, staff were lovely and it was clean. Great to be in centre of city for access to Fringe festival and Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Just take ear plugs, we did. Cheap laundry facilities.

The location is excellent! I was a woman traveling solo for a few days and I felt safe. the cons: These are used as the university dorm rooms during term time, so expect them to be very bare (literally just a tiny bed and desk). Also everything is so loud! from the drunk people out on the mainstreet to the... More
