Everything was ok, but this place could be so much better. Didn't get a particularly friendly welcome; just handed keys and not shown to room. Room was fairly clean but few cobwebs on ceiling and grouting in shower was dirty. The bed was comfy, but was disturbed by the incredibly loud bathroom fan which came on with the light and... More

Spent new year in Edinburgh with my boyfriend and it was a lovely place we stayed. Stayed for 2 nights from the 30th. Good location just a mile from the royal mile down one straight main road, we paid for an all day bus ticket per person and used it to get too and from the centre on New Year's... More

The Arrandale was perfectly situated approx. a mile and a half from the Princess Street/Royal Mile area. There were plentiful buses servicing the road that the guest house is on. The room was a good size and well equipped. The breakfast was good and set you up for the day. There was plenty of tourist information on display to help... More

This review is not a reflection based on our stay at the guest house. My husband and i chose this b & b last year to celebrate our wedding anniversary weekend in Edinburgh, and as i was so good last year we wanted to return..... However, upon arrival we soon discovered that our booking had not been written in the... More

I’d like to assure any prospective visitors that I have improved the record keeping and made doubly sure that all reservations are clearly and accurately recorded so this incident should not arise again. More

The Arrandale was easy to find as it`s on the main road south out of the city centre, about 1 and half miles. Bus stop 1 min walk up road, every 10 mins, £1.50 single journey. Lis has provided all details needed for buses. She even gave us some change one day, as exact money is needed! The Arrandale is... More

We booked late via a 3rd party for one night and Lis contacted me shortly after booking to confirm arrival time. A fair price for the service offered - room ( number 2) was well equipped & clean, can't really ask for much more. A great location with plenty amenities withing walking distance including pubs, shops, eating places etc and... More

Booking arrangements were expertly handled by Lis. Although there were staff on the premises we didn't see them unless we rang the bell. .As mentioned by other visitors, we found the double bed very hard. There was a form to order breakfast the night before , which was no problem. (We did feel 8.15- 8.30 was early for a weekend and... More

I do apologise for the shortcomings you experienced. Please be assured that there is always myself, my son or a member of staff on hand to help. New mattresses are ordered for that room and should be with us soon. Guests may come for breakfast until 9 am on all days, last Saturday was an exception. .Measures have been taken... More

The property has some very nice features - high ceilings with cornices and ceiling roses. Ground floor room well positioned for elderly people who can't manage stairs. although ensuite very small and door only opens halfway because of the bed. Garden view not very inspiring. As train was cancelled due to faults on line we had to travel by coach... More

I’m very sorry to hear that your visit to Edinburgh was marred by the delayed train journey and the expense of the taxi from the railway station. I apologise that you found our service lacking. Unfortunately both my son and myself were rather unwell during your couple of days here so were not at our shining best. I have reviewed... More

We stayed at this B&B while coming in & out of Edinburgh on several occasions during our 2 week bicycle trip. Location is very convenient -- right on the bus line to downtown. Our breakfasts were always delicious and exactly as we ordered; Liz packed a nice to-go breakfast for us on the day we left early for the airport.... More

Great customer service, the host even emailed me a few days before to ask if we would like any extra beds in our room. The location £10 taxi ride from the city centre. (seemed expensive for a relatively short distance) The room was very grand and clean (The photos online don't do the rooms justice) We stayed in room 5... More
