Great location near Haymarket. Smallest shower room ever, poor quality toiletries. Towels not replaced. Very busy but appears to be run with minimal staff which meant breakfast was rushed. Had been told there was secure parking for bikes but this was down a flight of stairs, neither ideal or convenient. Expensive for what it is but this was probably due... More

The Lairg is two side by side structures built in the beautiful architecture of the time period ... located on a wide cobbled-stone street just a leisurely five minute walk to the train station. We stayed in a first floor room in the back of the building adjacent to the main hotel structure. The room was very large and unique... More

The Lairg in Edinburgh is a nice hotel. We had a kingsize bed and nice furniture. The only problem could be the parking if one stays longer than just one night. There's no long term parking outside the building. Our room had beautiful furniture and a brand-new big bathroom. The Lairg is within walking distance of Princess Street. The host... More

Very friendly manager and his family. Spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast and handy location. For a 3 star hotel this ticked all the right boxes. Large airy room and very little noise. I don't understand some of the comments. If you want 5 star, you need to pay for it. I would recommend this hotel and return in the future. I... More

I stayed for a couple of nights to do some house hunting. The single room was perfectly sized and very clean with a big window. Breakfast was really good and the house itself is very traditional with high ceilings, wooden floors and lots of character. The house can be naturally noisy due to its style and age, take ear plugs... More

Staff are knowledgeble & anticipate needs. Facilities are clean & cosy with the water heater on the wall in the shower a fascinating insight into ingenuity. The area & the cobblestone roads & repeating Georgian architecture provide a solid foundation to understanding the heritage & history of this part of the city. Traditional Scottish breakfast was a real treat. Many... More

Arrived late and left early, but comfortable hotel in a very good position and with a very good breakfast, served promptly. Very near to haymarket station so easy to get out of Edinburgh, as well as a short walk, bus or tram into city centre. Left some property at the hotel which was helpfully returned.

We found Edinburgh to be a marvellous City. What a pity we chose to stop at the Lairg (Hotel?) In close proximity to transport links to the City but no entertainment, restaurants etc near bye. Haggis supper is your best bet. This is not a hotel although it is described as such on some websites. Instead It is an overpriced,... More

Lairg Hotel is located very close to Edinburgh Haymarket train station, bus and tram stops for regular services to Princes Street and Edinburgh centre are also very close to the hotel, 100 metres distance. The clean and comfortable rooms are furnished with antique style dark wood. The compact bathroom consists of shower, wash basin, w.c. Breakfasts are served in a... More

The property itself is an older property, and truth be told I didn't reserve this, it was reserved for me so I didn't get a chance to read anything about it before I stayed there. There are no lifts, it is a really nice looking converted house. If you have a problem dragging luggage up a flight of stairs, then... More
