The Lairg is a clean and well run hotel. Staff are very attentive and breakfast is excellent both in taste and quantity. We were on an anniversary trip and were given a family room with four poster/ flat screen TV etc. Hotel is two minutes from Haymarket rail station and will soon be close to new tram lines from Princess... Excellent hotel. The owners were very helpful, the room was furnished to a relatively high spec, very clean, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. We found the hotel location conveniently close to the Station and within walking distance to Princes Street. We would stay in this hotel again if we were to return to Edinburgh. More

We stayed as a family in the Lairg as a one night stop over in Edinburgh. It's in a great location as only 10 minutes walk to the centre of the city, but in a quieter, more residential area. All the staff were friendly, effficient and were happy to provide information on request. The hotel seems to have had a... More

Very clean and comfortable. Close to the centre and all attractions. All within walking distance but close to train station and bus routes. Loads of pubs, cafes and eateries in the area. We paid when we left not when we arrived. The staff were friendly and attentive and the breakfast was delicious with a good choice. Very good value for... More

We loved the Lairg Hotel, it's proximity to the train, bus, and the city. The remodeled rooms were excellent and the breakfasts the best. The people were very nice too. We will come back again. We will tell our pals in Virginia how great it was More

We had an awful end to what had been a great trip to Edinburgh at Christmas time. On check out we were told we could leave our bags in the dining area of the guest house whilst we spent the day sight seeing. We returned in the evening to find our bags had been put on a bus with a... More

My mother and I stayed at this hotel during festival season, so we were grateful to find a place that would not cost us half of our total budget! The location was great if you are arriving at Haymarket Station, as The Lairg is only a couple of blocks from the station. The walk to New Town, Old Town or... More

We stayed at the Lairg at the end of August and had great experience. We thought it was conveniently located-only 2 blocks from the Haymarket Station. It made travel to and from the airport so simple. The rooms we had (in the lower level) were recently decorated, with super baths. Everything was sparkling clean. The concierge--Remus--was most accommodating and helped... More

I can honestly say that this is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. The hotel does not reflect the pictures shown on any of the websites . It is extremely poor value for money. There is lot of choice in Edinburgh and you really don’t need to stay here. I certainly won’t ever again. The hotel needs... More
