This B&B was recommended to us by friends, and we are in their debt. Franco and Lynn, the owners of the Southside Guest House, are completely oriented towards making their guests comfortable in their lovely Georgian townhouse. We asked for, and received, a quiet room facing the lovely back garden. It was stocked with every amenity, including coffee, tea, water,... more

I had a warm welcome from Franco when I arrived. I stayed in the single ensuite room for 4 nights. The room was spacious, bright, fresh and clean. I had a selection of refreshments and biscuits to choose from, telephone access and digital television. The dining room was well set out. There was a selection of cereals, fresh fruit, muffins... more

On arrival, your hosts Franco and Lynn are helpful, attentive and friendly. This sets the scene for the whole of your stay at Southside. The rooms are immaculate, with fresh mints on your pillow and tea and biscuits every day. Breakfast is a two course affair! With a buffet to help yourself to and then a cooked second course of... more

I had the good luck to stay at Southside Guesthouse for the first 2 nights of a five-week trip to the UK and Europe. I couldn’t have had a better start. My room was small but very comfortable, and the breakfast served each day was the best I had in my entire trip. Franco and Lynne were both charming and... more

Lovely Georgian house in lively Newington area, with plenty of restaurants around. The owners were away but the managers were very accommodating and kind. Rooms are comfortable and every effort has been made to make guests at home. Bit of a find! more

We arrived on 25th May and were met by Lynne who showed us to our room and provided us with all the details regarding the guest house. We had a large double room with en-suite. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available as well as a large bottle of water. There were plenty of towels and toiletries supplied . A nice... more

Southside GH offers an ideal place to stay in Edinburgh: lovely rooms, sparkling clean, delicious breakfast. What raises Southside to a higher level, however, is the owners. One can travel a long time before finding such nice people. You have the sense that you are the guest in the home of good friends. Some of the rooms make ideal romantic... more

This has to be one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in. The location is great with just a short walk to the center and the rooms are clean, comfortable and individual. Breakfasts were outstanding with a great choice and cooked to perfection. It is obvious Lynne and Franco are passionate about what they do and the result... more

My wife and I spent 2 blissful nights at this charming establisment. Franco was the most gracious and friendly host. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. The Guest House is well located with a short walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Golden Mile. Breakfast was a treat, with a buffet and a la carte offerings. We would... more
