We arrived early after an overnight flight from Newark and David and Tessa were very helpful. Our room was ready! David carried the luggage up all the stairs. The location is perfect. We walked all over the old town and the new town. We are dinner both nights at A Place in the Town, a restaurant David recommended that was... more

Easy walk from Waverley rail station. Stayed for two nights (Friday & Saturday) in a spacious room, No 5. made to feel very welcome. reception area very nice. Everything clean and tidy. a little noisy on Friday night.. Breakfast next door at Ricks was included and good. Eat at Maxies Bistro, near the castle, friendly staff, great food. We stayed for two nights at 53 Frederick Street. The real highlight was the room itself - in an original Georgian-era house, our room was large, well proportioned and appeared to be one of the original rooms in the house. The room was furnished with antiques and so felt like we were staying in our own little price of history.... more

Had originally booked in Oct 2008 for May 2009 bank holiday weekend. I also reconfirmed our booking a couple of weeks before departure. However, when we arrived we were told there was an overbooking but they had found us accomodation in another hotel. V disappointed about the overbooking - there are only six or so rooms! V pleased with service... more

We (a friend and I) were visiting Edinburgh and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and the nice room we had at 53 Frederick St. Arriving late (at 00:30 AM) was no problem at all. The room was clean & quiet, the bed was comfortable. David and Tessa were very helpful, showing us the places we could visit and... more

Let me start by saying that I would recommend this B&B to all my friends and family that would consider a trip to Edinburgh. More specifically, the location of the B&B is very nice (without the noize of traffic) and the staff knows the area very well... local bakeries, pubs and clubs to go to, you name it, they will... more

The first thing you notice about the place is how warm, friendly and welcoming they are. There's no mistaking that it's a family-run operation and that David and Tessa take pride in their establishment. The location is great, just off Prices Street - less than half a mile from the Castle. The Scottish breakfast and the Georgian dining room it... more

We (my wife and me) stayed at this hotel over Easter and I was very pleased with the rooms and the general cleanliness of the hotel, our rooms were bright and comfortable, the bathroom however could do with some more work. The hotel location is fantastic. I guess the only small issue we had was the timing of the breakfast.... more

I stayed at 53 Frederick , a bed/breakfast, for 3 days with my 14 yo daughter. It was a fabulous location with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable and nicely done, quite spacious and the breakfasts were fine. While the stairs up are steep, David helped us with our luggage and it was not a detraction unless... more

Great location and very comfortable rooms despite the number of people in them (3 and 4), Staff and owner were magnificent in every details and generosity was at the higher standard. I certainly do not need to look for another B&B in Edinburgh for the nearer future. Stefano and his 8 friends. more
