I loved Edinburgh its such a beautiful city full of history and character but what made it even more enjoyable was our stay at the balmoral b n b. After spending the whole day walking around it was great to get back to our cosey onsuite and relax. The guesthouse owners were very acommodating and happy to answer all our... more

My partner and I spend 5 days in Edinburgh and discoved the Balmoral Guesthouse through our copy of the Lonely Planet to Scotland. Our room was on the first floor, it was huge with high ceilings, plaster cornices and really great looking furniture. The carpet felt luxurious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was served on a large... more

We were at the Balmoral Guesthouse recently and had a great 4 day stay. The house is over 150 years old and full of lovely furniture and interesting pictures. Our room had recently been redecorated and looked a little different to the web site pictures - it was even nicer and we loved it. The owners were away at the... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our four-night stay. We had a large en-suite room (love those high ceilings!), nicely decorated and comfortable. The owner was out of town and our host, Helen, was very sweet, made great breakfasts, and was helpful in recommending where to eat and which buses to take. We did not find anything threatening about the neighborhood or perceive... more

A nice comfortable guest house about 2kms out of the city. Buses are quite convenient to the city centre (tip for families of 5 - catching a cab is only a quid more and dropped you to the door). The rooms were comfortable, however our 2 rooms were on the 3rd level and there are no lifts. Not an issue... more

I was frantic for a place to stay in Edinburgh after we lost our original reservation and found this place on the internet. The pictures looked marvelous and quite nice so I booked the rooms. Needles to say, the pictures did not match the reality. The rooms were so small you couldn't change your mind in them. The woodwork was... more

We stayed here four nights last week, and we'll definitely stay next time we visit Edinburgh. Our room faced the back garden on the third floor, sharing a modern bathroom with one other room. Our room was very clean, quiet, with a comfortable bed, bedside lamps and antique furnishings that made it nice to come back to at the end... more

We both really liked the Balmoral – with a beautiful breakfast room with all those old wooden chairs – apparently from Saint Giles’ Cathedral (!) - pretty plates on a big old wooden dresser and old radios – it definitely had atmosphere. The food was fine too – plenty of it for us – value for money I'd say with... more

My girlfriend and I drove all the way from Aberdeen (3 hours) in an insanely busy Edinburgh due to the Fringe festival only to find out that the owner was "terribly sorry, there has been a mistake". Apparently she had double-booked the room. Amidst apologies she took us across the road to another B&B where she had "managed" to book... more

Stayed for 2 nights in this 3 story Victorian guest house, stylishly furnished and decorated with clean carpets. Our 2 top floor rooms were not on suite but had a useful sink. A bright airy bathroom and toilet were shared between 4 rooms. Breakfast is on a long bench table or a 3 person table for the shy and retiring.... more
