We stayed at the Balmoral for 7 days during the Festival this year and we have nothing but praise for the accommodation, the food and particularly for the owners. The owners, Marc and Marianne were away on business and it was left to their daughter Josee (with a little help from her brother) to look after us and what a... More

Our second trip to Scotland and we were lucky enough to be able to book our stay at the Balmoral Guesthouse where we stayed in 2009. The owners were away but we were really well looked after by Josee. The house was as comfortable as we remembered and we given a lovely quiet room at the back of the house... More

Balmoral Guest House is a real masterpiece of mid 1800s Scottish craftsmanship. The house itself is something to admire both inside and outside as are all the houses on Pilrig Street. Marc and Marianne have done an excellent job in preserving the character of the house and yet provide all the needs of a modern traveler . The interior is charming... More

I stayed four nights on my own and would strongly recommend the Balmoral Guesthouse. Josee was a helpful and friendly host who provided advice on where to eat, getting around and had an extra plug adaptor for me to borrow! The room was an ensuite, very clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent too. Their house has a lot... More

We only stayed one night but were made to feel very welcome. Josee and her aunt were very helpful even providing plasters for my blistered feet! The room was very clean, the bedding crisp and clean, the toilet very clean. It is perfectly situated, sitting between Leith (Britannia) and Princess street. There is free roadside parking and it was relatively... More

Lovely comfortable B&B, almost home from home, cosy duvet and very good pillows, bedroom very clean and decent size of bathroom with a roomy shower which had a good selection of soap and shower gel. Breakfast plentiful with loads of choice. This is a good location with free parking on this street and only a short walk to Princess Street,... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and what a lovely and comfortable B & B it is. Hearty cooked breakfasts, with perfect fried eggs! Also a choice of cereal, fruit and yoghurt. The bedroom was immaculate, and quiet and dark at night. It's only a short walk into the city centre from here. Definately suggest the italian la favorita on... More

We were here all the family, 2 adults and 2 kids, for 4 days. The room was comfortable and the breakfast excellent. We never took a bus from the B&B to any local attractions and we were with 2 kids! We walked every day to the centre of Edinburgh and we walked even to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Very good... More

Pilrig Street is an ideal location, as there are excellent bus routes close by, shops in a walking distance as well as pubs and restaurants. Marc is a pleasant and well-informed host, who organized wonderful babysitters for our little girl! He was also thoughtful and arranged some toys and children´s books in the breakfast room. He also gave some sound... More

We had a great stay with Marianne and Marc. The room was warm and beautifully furnished with an eclectic range of new and antique stuff. We really felt at home. Marc gave us loads of advise on places to go walking. We love long walks and edinburgh is a perfect place if you enjoy walking through beautiful landscapes. Our favorite... More
