The day before our trip, one of my friends fell off a ladder and broke her foot. We arrived at Ceilidh-Donia tired, and with my friend in a deal of pain. Annette was kind and sympathetic, and moved us to the room that would fit all of us on the lowest possible floor. The next day, one of the chefs,... more

its great to see the hotel is as good now as it was when we stayed. I will book again. The reviews say it all. We stayed in 2004 and we had a great time, infact we haven't been in a hotel to the same standard yet. more

My experience here was great. I would highly recommend a stay. It was very comfortable and Max and Annette were most welcoming. more

We were a european group, meeting in Edinburgh. I heard continual positive comments from my group, how did you find this place, it is unique und full of atmosphere. We tested their service to the limit because we worked in the hotel during the day, making many extra demands on them, e.g. lunch for 12 people at a time when... more

In most cases you get what you pay for but not this one. I think the rate we paid was an absolute steal for this lovely, modern, friendly, comfortable and accomodating hotel. Situated about a 20 min walk from the old town, it is an easy bus ride away which takes you to the centre in around 5 mins. The... more

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. It was our first stop after the long flight from San Francisco. We chose this place both because it has a fine reputation, and because we knew its restaurant would save us having to do any thinking or searching in our initial jet-lagged state. We were very comfortable in the room... more

Max and Annette are simply the best hosts you could hope for. The 'Welcome' at the Ceilidh-Donia is unrivalled with every- and anyone feeling like part of the family. Nothing is too much trouble. This was my second stay, on the first I was part of a large contingent from my employer, and though I arrived on this trip alone... more

I can’t fault the property itself because it is nicely done and well kept. But the service we received was horrendous. We had booked two nights in late November. When we arrived, however, we hadn’t actually made it into “the book,” and Max was greatly surprised to see us. Initially, we were very understanding of what appeared to be an... more

I recently stayed at this gem of a hotel from Dec. 23 through Dec. 28 with my two adult daughters, my son-in-law, his sister and his cousin. We had four rooms all of which were extremely clean and comfortable, with extremely modern bathrooms. A made to order, freshly cooked, quality hot breakfast was included in the moderate cost of the... more

This hotel is fantastic - We had got up at 4:30am to get to Edinburgh for 9 for an event at The Hub in the city centre and therefore were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel at 10pm. We had got something quick for dinner as we were tired and it had been a very cold day and we... more
