Thanks to tripadvisor as we only booked this wonderful hotel after reading the reviews. What can we say that hasn't already been said, lovely clean, warm room, great shower! Staff all really friendly and the breakfast was outstanding.... We recommend the kippers. Easy walk into Edinburgh centre, breathtaking views of Arthur's Seat and great local pubs. If you're going to... More

Excellent Hotel at the right price. Our room on top floor was spotless, quiet and had all amenities. Very friendly environment. Great breakfast with plenty of choice and freshly prepared to a high standard. Easy access to the city with 10 minute bus ride. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! This hotel is more a bed & breakfast, where the owners are not only the ones that check you in, serve the breakfast, but also serve the nightcaps. Great location with a fantastic view of Arthur's Seat. You can walk down town or catch a cab (they arrive in only 5 minutes after being called!). The rooms... More

Awesome location- we were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. (If you enjoy walking I recommend this! If not- the buses are easy to use!) The staff was really helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious with great views, awesome bathrooms and nice tea set ups! The breakfast was good- lots of choice. We felt very at home and... More

When we checked in we were put in room 18, which is right at the entrance and check-in desk / bar area. Although the room and bathroom is quite spacious, there is no feel of privacy as you can hear everything going on in the front area, and the constant opening and closing of the front door is very annoying.... The previous high-mark reviews of this 13-room hotel were fully deserved. We stayed 3 nights on the second floor. The room was small but made maximum use of available space. We had a fantastic view of Arthur’s Seat, the ancient volcano that is located in Holyrood Park. Located in a quiet neighborhood, Hotel Ceilidh-Donia is very well maintained and provides... More

We're just back from a trip to Scotland and stayed at Hotel Ceilidh-Donia in Edinburgh. Reserving the room was easy with immediate follow-up from Maxx the owner. He included a wonderful summery of info including directions, map of local sites, bus routes and the hotel services. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted with a friendly welcome and a clean... More

We stayed here for two nights recently and it was great for us. We were able to get parking outside on the street, which is a quiet residential street so you are not too worried about the safety of your car. I thought the rooms were quite generous for a city hotel, and the bed was massive!! There was a... More

My father and I traveled to Edinburgh over the last ten days and stayed at the Ceilidh-Donia twice--once for five nights and again for two (book-ending a short excursion to the Highlands). I was utterly charmed by this wonderful little hotel and its warm, generous (and quite witty) owners. I spent quite a bit of time after the day's journeys,... More
