I stayed at the Angel's share hotel for a night with my boyfriend - you have to walk through the restaurant to get to the lift that then takes you to the reception! Quite a random layout for a hotel reception, however, the receptionist was lovely :) We stayed on the 4th floor in the Sharleen Spiteri room. The room... More

A friend and I stayed at the Angels Share in April 2015. We arrived very late on the train from London and we were met by the night staff, I believe his name was Alistair. He could not have been nicer. He asked us where we were from and gave us some tips on what we should do in Edinburgh.... More

I booked an 'executive'room, arrived and was given the key to the Sean Connery room, I was really excited and was expecting something from Goldfinger, sadly not. The room was small but did have a dead cowskin rug on the floor and a large picture of Sean above the bed. I went downstairs for a drink, was tempted to order... More

This is a small and quirky boutique style hotel, locally ran in a perfect central location, there is no parking but a multi story a 5 minute walk away. You could tell it was an old building but they've definitely put a fresh stamp on the place. The staff were really friendly and the place had a good atmosphere to... More

The bar and restaurant are truly amazing we had an fabulous Saturday night in the bar listening to a band. The rooms initial look wonderful but then you realise things are not as you first thought. Beds are small, room poorly laid out and lit. With no place for us ladies to do our make up. Staff all very friendly.... More

This Hotel has a great location and a nice bar & restaurant. If I was reviewing the Bar and restaurant it would be a different review. However it is the Hotel I am reviewing. The reception is in the worst location I have ever seen for a Hotel of this type, having to walk through a busy bar and have... More

It looks better on the website than it is in reality. I had two superior double rooms for one night. They were both quite small and dark. The bathroom in mine had mouldy sealant around the bath and a broken tap. Neither of the rooms had working telephones so we were unable to contact reception or room service. Reception was... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
