A nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are modern and the bathroom is very fresh. We stayed in a standard room and it was really not that small. The hotel is located right in the middle of new town and old town. Great shopping just 5 min walk away. The breakfast was nice and the staff very... More

Stayed here in May last year, staff could not have been nicer! Room was spotless and had a lovely view (book with window as i heard some rooms don't have them) great location so close to everything! Would definitely return here, hot breakfast would be great as it was just toast, cereals ect but thats just being picky!

I allowed my other half to book hotel. Upon arrival the location was perfect being the other side of Waverley Bridge, the standard of the reception to the hotel was impressive and modern. The room was clean. We had a room on the Cockburn Side which was a walk with two lifts. The room was an attic type room with... More

We stayed here for 2 nights over Easter. The location was fantastic, especially as we arrived by train. We paid extra for a room with a view which was definitely worth it.The room was spacious with 2 single beds pushed together to make a large double. The bed was very comfortable and the single duvets no problem.Staff very very helpful and efficient.A request... A centrally located hotel and maybe a good choice if you need something very close to the main Waverley train station, Princes Street, castle, etc. it is also only 100 metres to the bus stop for the airport bus stop (takes 30 mins to or from airport, pay on the bus). Probably not a good choice if driving however! The... More

I booked this hotel for a group of 8 'girls' celebrating a 40th birthday. Usually look for a good 4* hotel but due to good reviews decided to give this hotel a try....so pleased we did! Fabulous location, really handy for the station and everything Edinburgh has to offer. Rooms extremely clean, modern and comfortable - we didn't have breakfast... More

Virtually opposite Waverly railway station and the last stop of the Airport link bus. A 5 min walk from the Princes Street tram stop. At the bottom of Cockburn Street with a short (but very uphill!) walk to the Royal Mile. The hotel is pretty new, clean and the staff/reception were very friendly. Our room was basic, which is what... More

My Husband and I stayed here for a weekend in March. The staff at check in were really friendly and let us check in really... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
