We stayed here for a few nights during the EMF weekend. The staff were great, and the hotel is in a great location. However, we found the room to be uncomfotable, as it was extremely warm and there was so no ventilation or air conditioning and only a tiny velux window. It felt like we were sleeping in a prison... we stayed 3 days there. not a best experience. Definitely the location is excellent just short walk from Royal mile, trains buses. Rooms are rather simple. there is no wardrobe - you have to keep your staff in suitcase. Windows are not the best so you hear noice from outside. Litfts are slow and every time one need to wait... We mainly chose Motel One Royal due to its location (which is very good for exploring the city), a view (more later) and the contemporary style. The hotel was comfortable enough, but the "room with a view" we reserved 10 weeks ago was on the end of the building and looked at the scaffolded building opposite. We had hoped with... More

We decided to spend a couple of nights in Edinburgh, and selected this hotel due to it's location suiting the purpose of our visit. Let me say straight away, it's not the Ritz, however it appeared to be well run, and is clean.Staff were very friendly and approachable, and our room 521 although basic, was a good size and overlooks part of... This hotel is in a brilliant location, it's one minute from the station and right next to the royal mile. The service is professional, of course it is, the chain is German. There's a good continental breakfast and some of the rooms have amazing views - ask for a city view. And the single beds are enormous. I've stayed twice... More

The location is excellent. Very close to Waverly Station and the Royal Mile. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much bother. Our room ( 714 ) was one with a view but you had to stand at the window to see out as it is high up the wall. The electric points are in places you would... More

We visited Motel One for a quick one-night stop in Edinburgh after a wedding elsewhere in Scotland. The location could not be more convenient for the train. Station and the airlink bus goes from just across the road every ten minutes. A short walk up the very pretty Cockburn Street and you are slap bang in the middle of the... More
