When I arrived to the hotel I was really impressed with the staff: professional, helpful, warm welcoming... The room was extremely clean. I bought a packet via booking.com so I had included most of the things. I didn't need hair dryer and TV so, consider that if you want to book a room here. No wardrobes but no need, as... More

Tune Hotels are operated on a concept I’ve never seen anywhere before: you only pay for what you want. There is a base rate on the room; then you add on all of the small amenities that you would like, for a small amount each. Things like towels. Like TV. Like wifi. Like blow dryers. At first glance it seems... More

I booked a double room three months ago, It seemed a nice hotel right outside Haymarket station. I arrived to be told they had double booked and I was now downgraded to the Travelodge, 10 mins walk away. They said as I had only booked one night I had been moved. There had been no prior communication about this. So... More

My husband and I have stayed here on two occasions and both times have been wonderful. Great hotel for going to The Royal Highland Show as the buses stop straight across the road. The rooms are rather small but very modern and extremely clean. The location is amazing, straight across the road from Haymarket train station and buses and trams... More

This hotel is fantastic value for money. The place is spotless and the location is great for exploring the city and convenient also for the airport via tram or bus. The staff were really helpful and couldn't do enough for you.

Convenient location, especially getting to and from Edinburgh airport but also a relatively short walk to all the major sights. Clean and cosy with a comfortable bed and the front desk staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. Yes the room is the size of a postage stamp but for the price it would be hard to beat!

Thank you for your comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay As per your review and clearly stated on our website our rooms are modern clean and indeed compact; this is why we can offer such a good price within a central city centre location. We look forward to welcoming you back More

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here. Handy for attending gigs. Great location and good price. The hotel is spotless. The shower is also decent with a good pressure and hot water. The first stay was a bit more enjoyable perhaps as our room had a window. This time I accepted a room in the... More

Thank you for your review We have both windowless rooms and rooms with windows as stated in the review. Each room has an air conditioning unit, one of the few in the city but clearly on this occasion did not work properly for which we apologise. We only wish you had let us know at the time and we could... More

As title says. We stayed here last night and was awoken by the most extreme banging ever. It was the brewery delivering beer barrels to the bar next door. 7.50am is not a good time to get a rude awakening by that sort of noise. Hotel was OK although a little noisy with doors banging etc. Wouldn't stay here again... More

Thank you for your review and apologies for your rude awakening. Deliveries are banned from the back of the hotel until after 9.30am but clearly on this occasion one got through. I have spoken to the Management of the attached pub who look after Platform 5 to ensure this was very much a one off. Kind regards More

Look ! This place is cheap, it's a cheap airline, with all extras costing more. If you dont need the TV then u don't need to pay for it, just like all other axtras. The rooms are small if not tiny, there is no wardrobe, the bathroom is so small you might just miss it ... but it's cheap. If... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
