We only had a fed days in Edinburgh before Christmas but the stay was so comfortable and inviting. For winter in Edinburgh the weather was relatively mild, 4-5 degrees above freezing, still cold enough for 4 layers of clothes though. The appartment was open plan and suited our needs perfectly. A cot for the baby and central heating to stay... More

We booked this apartment within 24hrs of travelling. The rate was good and the reviews read well so pleased. The confirmation came through the next morning with clear instructions - all good. We found the place easily and there was no check-in desk or key collection so simple and hassle free. The apartment was stunning! Exactly as per the pictures.... More

My wife and I recently stayed for 2 nights at The Malthouse Apartments and we were both very impressed. The booking was a last minute decision however very happy we did. Everything was set up perfectly from the arrival instructions through to the standard and equipment in the apartment. We will definitely use these again on future trips to Edinburgh.... More

I stayed at the Malt House Apartments for a long weekend in July. It was a studio apartment, apart for a sliding door to separate the bedroom and living area. The apartment was a short walk for Princes Street, which was an ideal location for shopping and visiting the main attractions. The only compliant I had was that I found... More

Had a great trip very nice flat for 2 people.everything was brand new and clean could not fault it. The appartments didn't have a customer service desk there, but if you had a problem you can call their number and someone would be there within about 10 mins to fix it. Staff was very helpful.only 2 minutes walk from princes... More

Great apartment, well located off Shandwick place. Spent 2 nights here for two adults and a three year old, surprisingly child friendly. Super clean and well appointed. Airport tram stop on Shandwick place is very close, easy to get a cab. Walkable to the Castle.

Place is great location, close to everything! Everything it claims to be, stayed in unit 9 for 3 nights an it was agora stay. Because there is no air conditioning had windows open so noise was an issue after pub's closed. But all in all a good place to stay....

We stayed at Malt house Apartments for a weekend in September. We had apartment 10 which is on the too floor. No lifts but only two flights of stairs, no great hardship. A very nice spacious 2 bedroom apartment. Good kitchen facilities. Comfy beds & the apartment was spotlessly clean. Only a short walk to the Centre & lots of... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
