Was looking for a place to stay for a well earned break with my partner. This fitted the bill perfectly! Just a couple minutes from Haymarket station on a side road away from the hustle 'n' bustle of Edinburgh. The room was clean, tidy and spacious; more than ample for our needs. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom... More

Just come back from Edinburgh, with 2 adults and 4 children aged between 12 & 14. Accommodation is not easy to arrange but the apartments the hotel provide are great. Gave lots of room and space for everyone

A nice tidy place to stay with pretty comfy beds and a good breakfast. Nothing too out of the ordinary, what you'd expect for the cost, but is very reasonable. No complaints! A great place to stay in the city if you want to see all the sights and stay central, and good heating which was a big tick for... More

Just a short walk from Haymarket Railway Station and the Airlink Busstop tot the Airport. Nice reception. Room okay, a little bit old fashioned, but okay. Hope they repaired the sink of the shower, I told the receptionist when I left.. Can be recommended.

Visited here for the rugby weekend when the welsh were playing and i am glad i booked. All other hotels were drastically overpriced but not here. It was kept well, clean and managed very well. The staff during our stay couldnt be more helpful in regards to where we could eat, drink and visit. Top notch, first class service. This... More

The hotel is in an excellent location with the provision to leave luggage prior to check in. The two staff we encountered were very politie & helpful. The room was very spacious but nothing special. We did like the shower. Excellent water pressure & a spacious shower cubicle. No need to fight off a clingy shower curtain! The wifi is... More

Stayed in Piries Hotel for one night on February 28th 2015 with my boyfriend to attend a gig. Had a lovely time, stayed in Room 12 and found it to be spacious, clean and well decorated. Fabio at reception was very helpful and delivered excellent customer service, a credit to the hotel. Hotel itself is pretty basic but functional with... More

Just back from a weekend away with family and can't complain about our stay at all, rooms and public areas were warm, clean and tidy. Didn't spend much time in the hotel as we'd gone down to watch a rugby match. Italian receptionist was good fun, my only complaint there is that I lost our bet on who would win... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
