Arrived with friend and told to go back out the hotel down the street and into another part of building. It was very dark and gloomy not a nice place on 1st impressions. Eventually got into room and that although was clean it was very gloomy and unwelcoming. Yes it's cheap but we couldn't stay and booked in else where.

Well established hotel handy for Haymarket Station and tram stop. Room was clean staff efficient, only minor complaint window was rattling, it was very windy and I fixed it with a bit of paper. Would use again. Charge for Wi-Fi and a cheaper breakfast can be found nearby.

Location is good, tram is super close to the hotel, train station near too. Really easy when you come from the airport. Staff is nice, friendly and helpful. Now, the rooms are a bit tiny, if you stay on the ground-floor it's quite noisy, better drink some whiskey if you want to sleep :-) Also it's tricky to get the... More

Pros: Good location - just around the corner from buses/trams to and from city centre, airport and on many other routes. Also around the corner from train station. There is a lovely cafe nearby where we went for breakfast. Spacious room - we were in a "double executive" room which was very spacious which was good as we stayed a... More

Was looking for a place to stay for a well earned break with my partner. This fitted the bill perfectly! Just a couple minutes from Haymarket station on a side road away from the hustle 'n' bustle of Edinburgh. The room was clean, tidy and spacious; more than ample for our needs. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
