The Chester Residence is a fantastic place to stay - one of the best I have ever used. Instead of a room, and shared common areas as for a hotel, you are left to your own devices in your own apartment, but with all the benefits you would expect from a good hotel - friendly staff who couldn't do more... We arrived on a Saturday morning with much anticipation after reading the reviews. What a lovely welcome we received. Lovely staff uniforms - very smart in their kilts! Room not ready but we were very early so we left our bags and headed out armed with maps and restaurant recommendations provided by the front of house staff. After a lovely... More

This was my first stay at this property and it was a great experience. The location is perfect. Everything was super clean, new and modern. Wifi was free and worked pretty well. Bathroom was immaculate, lobbies very clean and I just love the sheets. I was asking where can I get some for my place. Everything was reasonably priced and... More

My wife and I booked in for the weekend in February as I was about to go away with work for a month and what a fantastic choice of hotel. Stunning apartment very tastefully decorated a living room and sofa so large you could probably have the Waltons around to stay and still have room! Staff were very friendly and... More

beautiful hotel with amazing rooms. induction cooktops free wifi and even a heated towel rack. the people couldn't have been nicer and helped us with anything we needed. My nana was sick and we were so glad that we were in this hotel and not another because she said that she was really comfortable in this one.

I stayed in the Chester Residence on the evening before my wedding and on the evening of my wedding. I arrived with one of my bridesmaids, wedding dress in hand and we were shown to one of the stunning Grand one bed apartments. Our jaws hit the floor as soon as we walked into the drawing room, we just looked... More

My wife and I recently stayed in the Chester Residence as a celebration for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was our first stay in the Chester Residence and given the other Tripadvisor reviews we had high expectations and these were exceeded in every department! On arrival we received a warm greeting from all the staff and particularly liked that it... More

we loved the friendly staff, beautiful view from the window & convenient location of this apartment style hotel. Bar tenders wear great kilt uniforms. I wanted a warm drink & although they didn't have the equipment for an Irish coffee the bartender put together a lovely approximation.

Wow - absolutely outstanding. Luxury accommodation in a perfect location. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and polite. It was an absolute pleasure to relax and enjoy a superb break at the Chester. It is everything you would expect and more from a five star apartment, we were very impressed and will definitely return.

This was an excellent place. Staff were spot on and really helpful. My only negative comment is that the standard rooms are below ground, meaning you have no view of the beautiful neighbourhood apart from the feet of passers by. Had I known this, I'd have booked the next tier of room up from the one I did. Stellar otherwise.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
