We recently stayed here at the Chester Residence in the annex side of the property. The annex side is just across the block, and is even more convenient because it is about two blocks closer to Prince's Street, where everything is or can be accessed. The apartment was incredibly spacious and elegant, with a kitchen, two bathrooms, a very large... More

The Chester Residence is amazing. Each unit is actually a full-size apartment, not just a hotel room. My husband and I were traveling with two other couples, and each of our apartments was different. Each was decorated beautifully and very clean. All of the staff members are so nice and very accommodating. It's located in a very nice and quiet... More

Our stay at this wonderful hotel was for three nights.we were in the penthouse which was absolutely wonderful and luxurious. The only thing to be noted is that there is no lift...only stairs. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Everything was so comfortable ..the bathroom was fantastic ..with heated floors..as bog as a bedroom. Very close to Princes Street.walkable... More

This is an outstanding hotel. It's actually a huge apartment, with very large living room, huge bed room, two bathrooms, kitchen fully equipped. Everything is very beautifully designed with high standards. The location is fantastic. Quite, calm and centrally located. Lovely people in the reception and everything felt simply amazing.

My partner and i stayed here for 1 night as part of her 21st birthday celebrations and could not have asked for a better experience. We were given the penthouse suite with amazing views over Edinburgh. There were no lifts so be prepared for a good few flights of stairs! The room was spotlessly clean and very well furnished to... Apartment was fantastic, luxurious and spacious. Great location, quiet area and only a 5 minute walk to Princes Street. Staff were efficient and friendly. Made use of one of the parking spaces (need to book in advance). Highly recommend and would use again.

Stayed two nights and absolutely loved every minute. The apartment was spacious, spotless and extremely comfortable. Staff were courteous, helpful and attentive without being obtrusive and a minor problem with the Sky TV (all channels except movies) was solved straight away. I don't normally sleep well away from home but was out like a light in the superb super king... More

The complex is very well situated - only a 10 min walk to Princes Street and a 15 - 20 min walk to The Castle. Our apartment was spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. In particular, our lounge / dining room was enormous. In addition the staff are not just attentive and helpful but go out of their way... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
