In essence this place signifies all the 5 star elements of top place to stay. A couple of things that we noticed that were a little annoying: We stayed in Number 8 (Mews 2 bed apt) and the Laundry room is situated between the front door (courtyard) and inner front door. The kids were staying in the front bedroom but... More

We loved this place. Stayed with my wife and daughter in Apartment 3 for 3 nights in July. We couldn't believe how spacious the flat was - huge living room. All rooms renovated beautifully including very modern kitchen and bathroom. Finishing touches eg toiletries and kitchen necessities were all provided. Parking is available - in the next block 2 min... More

We have travelled to Edinburgh a number of times, so have tried a good number of hotels at the top end of the price range and can say, without any doubt, that this is the best. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, the suite we stayed in was home from home (in fact nicer and cleaner than our home).... More

Stayed as a couple in a wonderfully appointed apartment. Located within the basement area of one of the properties. Staff appeared very professional. Fantastic décor and amenities within the apartment. It was very large. Nothing appeared too much trouble for the staff. Location was perfect and parking was available. However, during the staff perfecting their apparent professionalism a 'handover' note... More

Absolutely fantastic. I can't say enough good about this place and how much we enjoyed it! We stayed in the rooms in Rothesay Place and paid a little extra for the "grand" apartment, about 4 nights. I've already recommended it to friends. It was clean, spacious, didn't smell (no perfumes or strong cleaning smells or cigarettes), the furniture was new,... More

My husband and I stayed in a suite at the Chester Residence for a week in June, and my nieces shared another suite. The hotel is just lovely. It has been very smartly renovated and is clean and attractive. If you don't mind walking a bit, Princes street (leading to the main attractions) is about 10 minutes. We are over... More

Fabulous !!! My wife and I stayed here for three days. The rooms were beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was so helpful whenever we needed anything. The neighborhood is one of Edinborough's best. A 20 minute walk to the Royal Mile and close to shopping and dining. Would recommend to anyone staying in Edinborough.

I booked the Chester Residence so I could take my mom on a trip to London and Edinburgh for her 70th birthday. The Chester is AMAZING. The rooms are spectacular-immaculate, stylishly designed, and VERY large. We stayed on the first floor in building number 8. It was a one bedroom, but when you get a "one bedroom" at the Chester... We had a fabulous apartment with a large bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped and the large lounge had a wide screen TV with Sky package. TVs also in bedroom and bath room. Service was outstanding. Much more than a great hotel.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
