5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed for a night on business and were gutted that we didn't book to stay the weekend. We were upgraded to a two bed apartment which was just HUGE! Lovely bathrooms with Molton Brown stuff - such a treat. We had breakfast brought to us which was really nice and very generous in terms of portions. Staff couldn't have... More

I am used to staying in big box hotels. Mainly SPG, but I was looking for something different and better. I found it! Each room is its own apartment complete with kitchen, living room separate bed room(s) and great bathroom. They don't have food there, but you are only a five minute walk to some great places. They do have... More

Fantastic apartments, perfect location a short walk from Princess Street, shops & restaurants. Staff were great, helpful, approachable & friendly. We stayed in a two bedroom basement apartment which was incredibly spacious and well equipped. Only niggle was the TVs didn't work due to signal problem. Would definitely recommend for any type of visitor.

Our apartment was spacious and comfortable. The staff were unfailingly helpful. So, you may ask, why only four stars. The answer is that the place has its faults. The sitting room lighting is such that it is impossible to read a book after dark. The dinning table is small - given the vast room, this could easily be remedied and... More

This is one of the best and most beautiful hotels I ever stayed at. The hotel rooms are actually small apartments, all decorated in tasteful style. The staff is one of the kindest ever, nothing is too much and they try their best to find all the information you are looking for. Also many good recommendations for restaurants and tours.... More

Firstly 5 stars are not enough. Don't stay anywhere else in Edinburgh. When me and my boyfriend got here, after a loooong rainy day in Edinburgh, we were greeted by extremely welcoming staff; who took our luggage to the room, showed us the extemsive (high quality) dvd library, the 24-hour bar (which deliver to the room) and then our room.... We stayed in 6(1) which is a newly renovated 2 bedroom unit. Beautifully finished and furnished. Fully equipped kitchen, ensuite plus main bathroom, comfortable beds and very quiet. Good wifi reception. Reception and lounge are a few buildings down but this wasn't a problem. Great service. There are only three available parking spots to reserve. They are a bit complicated... We stayed for 3 nights during the Edinburgh Festival in August 2015. The apartment on the top floor was beautifully appointed, the bathroom was amazing. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Couldn't ask for anything more. Expensive, but worth every penny. Hope to return one day!

We returned to the Chester Residence and as previously we found the location and accommodation worked superbly. Our ground floor rooms had their own en suite facilities plus a large bathroom. The kit/ lounge / diner with courtyard garden is very spacious and well appointed. No restaurant or cooked breakfast a small negative but compensated for by all the pluses.

Located only 7 mins walk from Princess Street, this hotel has amazing staff who provide the best service. The apartments are very large with a jacuzzi, living room, tv area, kitchen and everything you can imagine.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
