Comapred to other hostels I have stayed in, the Globetrotter is a nice place. We stayed in a 6 bed room that had a view of the ocean. The bathrooms were clean and everything worked (hot water and good water pressure). There are lockers in the room and are included in the cost. Many extras are included in the cost... more

I booked this hotel for myself and 12 other girls for my friend's hen do. Having never stayed in a hostel before I was a bit dubious, but I was very pleasantly surprised. We all stayed in 4 bed en-suite rooms, the bunk-beds are comfy, shower is hot and powerful and there was enough mirror space for all. It's definitely... more

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights during a trip across Europe. We had a double ensuite, which was absolutely worth the extra money in my opinion. It was a decent size room with a view of the ocean and a television. The shower had minimal pressure, but there was hot water which is enough for me. The... more

Though the location of the hostel is a bit far from the main city of Edinburgh, the hourly shuttle service from hostel to heart of city was much helpful. Being away from the city had its own advantage, that it was quite, peaceful and relaxing. Away from the rush and noise of the city. With big garden and river flowing... more

We had a pleasant 2 night stay at the globetrotter inn, however for 72 pounds for a double with ensuite (we got a twin and as the place was fully booked couldnt change) 20 mins from the city is not great value. Unfortunately during the festival with late booking this was all we could get, and we werent even going... more

Only the second time I've stayed in a hostel and it will most definately be the last. I'm no snob but the facilities were terrible. Toilets were disgraceful, showers little better. Having said that the staff were excellent and they have my sympathy as they clearly weren't helped by the loutish yobs, seemingly in their hundreds, unable to flush a... more

My partner and I stayed at the Globetrotter Inn as we were travelling on a budget. We opted for the double room with ensuite and were very pleased with the room. While the room is basic, we were happy with the comfort of the bed and the size of the room. Staff were pleasant to deal with, although our shower... more

I stayed in Globetrotter Inn Edinburgh in July 2007. I was satisfied with the hostel's service and room, however the hostel wasted a lot of plastic bags by packing each breakfast pack (just two pieces of bread) in a transparent plastic bag (the hostel's room charge includes breakfast). The hostel provided plates and all the cutlery in the kitchen and... more

Stayed : July, 2007, 2 nights. Facilities - Good enough for a short stay. They provide you kitchen, storage place, mini market, parking lot, lounge and as well as some vendor machine Environment & Distance - It is quite far from town if you dont have transport. Overall environment is excellent, behind the hostel is sea. It is very good... more
