Stayed in the hotel for a weekend break in the run up to Xmas. Got a good rate online and had a decent size room. Location was great, about 5 mins walk to Grassmarket. Didnt spend much time in the hotel but if I was going back would stay there again. more

There is no place to park to check-in! Had to walk several blocks to a parking area and walk back to the hotel, at night, in the rain. Front desk staff was really unhappy and uncooperative during the check-in (even rude). The rooms were nice, though - clean and well appointed. Overall, not an experience I wish to duplicate. more

we stayed here over valentines weekend, booked as part of a package and i was really impressed overall with the hotel. Its location is within walking distrance of grassmarket, castle and the royal mile. we walked twenty mins or so to princess street and beyond too. all very nice walks The hotel itself is modern, very clean and bright and... more

Good room, clean & spacious but the food was terrible. I had pre-paid for breakfast which was revolting - sickly scrambled eggs that tasted like cardboard and cold bacon that also tasted like cardboard. Much of the evening room service menu wasn't available and what was available was not very good. Following my stay the hotel emailed me for feedback and... more

My wife and I got the £65 per night b and b rate for 2 nights and as such it was good value; we had stopped in the nearby Premier last year and thought it looked good 'over the fence' at the time. Room wise it was the usual anonymous pictures mixed with contemporary furniture and badly thought out features;... more

I always like Novotel for their kid friendliness. They often come in with a heated pool, a kids area including playstation or xbox 360 etc, good double sofa beds in the same room, and free breakfast. Plus on the odd occasion when we eat at Novotels, kids have a healthy selection that is attractive (a difficult accomplishment by any measure!).... more

I spent 5 days at this hotel. It is a good hotel, maybe somehow featureless, but with a good location, only a 5 minute walk from the grassmarket area and a 10 minute walk to the castle and royal mile. the room was clean, large, quite but very cold. I asked the reception to repair the heating but, even if... more

Twice I have stay at this hotel last year and this year. After complaining about the noises and no room service for two days. The hotel gave us a two night break free in a quiet room, but the joke was on me from the hotel, the room there gave me was room 446 next door to the services lift... more

We visited the hotel in the past for a business trip and had a pleasant stay. In Oct 2009 we made a booking but we had to modify the booking. The modification has been announced timely, however for the cancelled date we had to pay the full price. Complaints did not help; no refund, no discount for future stay or... more
