I have stayed at quite a few hostels, but I never expected one to be like this: Relaxed, cosy, clean and personal. It was more like living in a families' place, having full access to all facilities: washing machine, tumble dryer, kitchen, free WI-FI, towels and linnen, large and cosy livingroom with books, videos etc., excellent kitchen with place (and... more

Nice location at about 15 min walk from the centre with a busstop 100 m from the hostel. Clean rooms and a friendly staff. Shared toilets and bathrooms but even in the busy mornings you never have to wait long. The owner must like guitars and you find them everywhere in the sitting-rooms but some of them don't want to... more

Hostel is located in converted houses in a quiet residential area, about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. Homely feel to everything, right down to the fireplace (lit some evenings) in the living room. Kitchens, sun rooms, etc. A much more relaxed atmosphere than many hostels. One or two minor rough edges on the cleaning, but can't think of... more

The place is ok. I stayed in a 4 dorm, but stayed alone in the room for 2 nights. The room is very spacious and clean and the bed is confortable. The toillet and bathroom are shared, but they are very clean also. The hostel was not full during my stay, so I never had to wait to use this... more

We stayed for 3 days at this hostel - given the price and reviews, we had not expected too much, but to be frank, we were still disappointed! The location was the only good thing about this place, and the friendly staff. It was a bit farther from the train station than we had hoped for - but was easy... more

When you pay your deposit, you don't have a reservation. In fact, the staff will tell you, "This means nothing." There you are in Edinburgh worrying about whether or not you have a place to spend the night when you should be enjoying yourself. If you find yourself fortunate enough to get a room, then you will discover that no... more

Location def wasn't excellent, although we did manage to find a... more

The Argyle was the perfect backpackers for us. Our double room was spacious, well furnished and even had a small TV. All the bathrooms were just like you would have in your own home so you never had to share. They were very very clean and plentiful and there was always one free not that far from our room. There... more

this is one of the best and most comfortable hostels I have stayed in. It's really cosy, homely and clean with good cooking facilities and a cosy TV area with loads of videos available for guests to watch. we stayed in a double room and it was above the standard you would expect for a hostel, and had a TV.... more

This is a great hostel. The people who work here are friendly (though sometimes not around at the front desk and they don't hear the buzzer, but besides that...) and so were the people staying here. It had a good hostel feeling to it, but catered to all ages, adults to teens. They had a kithchen, the rooms weren't large,... more
