I stayed here with little expectation. But surprisingly for the money and location it was very nice experience. I stayed in private room with shared bathroom with 3 other rooms. Pros: 1. Great location. Just besides of The Meadows. One of the great park in Edinburgh. I trakked to Aurther's seat in morning and came back in 2 hours. If... More

Stayed here for two nights over Easter, the staff are welcoming and helpful, the room although small was adequate, the shared bathroom facilities were surprisingly clean (only saying that as I rarely find clean shared facilities anywhere!). Although the hostel is a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile, to get there you have to walk through a park which... More

We hopped around different places in Ireland/ Scotland and this was the worst place we stayed. It's quite old and smells of mold. The room was freezing cold and we found condoms in the dresser drawer. It was noisy at night and our last night there one of the staff was loudly arguing with a guest outside our door telling... Really nice hostel in a quiet area. Almost has a B&B feel about it as it is a converted house on a residential street. Rooms were very nice, comfortable beds, quiet and clean. Toilet and shower facilities were also clean and well functioning. There are two kitchens downstairs should you want to cook, and there seemed to be plenty of... More

I recently stayed at Argyle Backpackers for four nights with a couple of friends - we were three in total. The location was great, very central but in a quiet area of the centre where there isn't any noise pollution, so was perfect fro the days when we wanted to rest up and get an early start to the day.... I went there for 3 nights to visit the city and for a conference. I found the location great because in the center near to a huge park and main points of attraction. However I must say that bathrooms and rooms were not properly clean and hot water as well as light in the toilet were not working for a... More

Cold showers and cold rooms. Big rooms. It was close to the centre. When we found out the bus didn't go early enough, the staff were a big help, they called a taxi for ous. Big tv and great burgers. :)

Very easy to find. Friendly staff. Clean. Walking distance from the Royal Mile, and just a block from the university and a great park. Very close to a Sainsbury, which if you haven't visited, it is a must. You can also walk to King Arthur's Seat, which is a grew short hike with an awesome view at the top. You... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed in there for a few days last april and I have to say that is a veryr cosy place and just a few minutes from the old town. Quiet neighbourhood. You feel like at home. Surveillance maybe is something to improve.
