overall a pleasant stay. one very annoying happening was staff repeatedly turning the lights off in the kitchen and leaving without a word which just seemed rude. i meant to mention it to the staff on the check in desk before leaving but had to leave before they opened so if you are reading this staff at argyle backpackers a... I stayed for one night at this hostel in a private room. My room was in a building down the street on the top floor. The room was a decent size and had dark curtains which I loved! It gets so bright during around 4 am so the curtains really worked well. The building I was in had a big... More

Staff very friendly and very good if you had any questions. Hostel in fab location - just 10-15min walk to city centre via the meadows park. Very quiet and great room and bathroom. Kitchen very clean too. One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Perhaps a bit pricey but you get what you pay for - great place!

I stayed here for two nights each week for six months whilst working in Edinburgh. It's a great hostel in an easily accessible location. The room was always clean and the kitchen is well stocked for utensils.

I had a nice room in attic wit lcd TV, shared bathroom and shower. wifi is free ( not so strong signal at the top flour), towels can be obtained for some fee, there is also a nice livingroom with elegant furniture and desktop PC for free using. Kitchens are also free for cooking and making tea or coffee. Hotel... More

I stayed at Argyle Backpackers for 6 nights in a private room with a shared bathroom. It was a great experience, I have no complaints. It is in a great location - I literally walked everywhere, about 20 minutes from the Royal Mile, 40 from the Royal Botanic Gardens and about 20 from the bottom of Arthur's Seat. Down the... More

I stayed here with little expectation. But surprisingly for the money and location it was very nice experience. I stayed in private room with shared bathroom with 3 other rooms. Pros: 1. Great location. Just besides of The Meadows. One of the great park in Edinburgh. I trakked to Aurther's seat in morning and came back in 2 hours. If... More

Stayed here for two nights over Easter, the staff are welcoming and helpful, the room although small was adequate, the shared bathroom facilities were surprisingly clean (only saying that as I rarely find clean shared facilities anywhere!). Although the hostel is a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile, to get there you have to walk through a park which... More

We hopped around different places in Ireland/ Scotland and this was the worst place we stayed. It's quite old and smells of mold. The room was freezing cold and we found condoms in the dresser drawer. It was noisy at night and our last night there one of the staff was loudly arguing with a guest outside our door telling... Really nice hostel in a quiet area. Almost has a B&B feel about it as it is a converted house on a residential street. Rooms were very nice, comfortable beds, quiet and clean. Toilet and shower facilities were also clean and well functioning. There are two kitchens downstairs should you want to cook, and there seemed to be plenty of... More
