I booked this on quite a cheap deal for business. The room I had was quite nice, possibly slightly dated but clearly had some modernization with flat screen TV and a slightly updated bathroom. I suspect if I paid for a slightly better room I would have got a bit more. What I had was comfortable and functional, it had... More

Like others I had read the reviews on here after booking and did have some concerns that it was going to be horrific however the rooms weren't too bad, the food wasn't great though! On arrival, reception looks lovely however after you leave reception things do deteriorate. The hallways are needing a bit of a lick of paint as are... More

I stayed here for one night, it was quite pricey. The hotel is a fairly poor 2 star hotel, albeit hidden behind an attractive building facade. This facade is used on promotional material (like the picture on TripAdvisor, contract this with my photos of the interior below). The food is poor, the service is ok; although the staff are well... My friend and I had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh staying at the Carlton George. The room was ideal. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only fault is the lack of double glazing on the windows which meant we had 2 disturbed nights due to noise from the street.

After reading previous reviews I was truly concerned about having booked this hotel for a 3 night break but I'm pleased to say we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All the staff from reception staff to cleaning staff were polite and attentive. Our room was spacious, quiet and clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent, although the waiting staff seemed... I stayed in this hotel on a Saturday night and despite my best efforts to get a cheaper rate it cost £250. Widely over priced. The room we got was shocking, tiny and very tired. I also stayed recently with work and it was marginally better. The service was slow, waiting for 40 mins for an iron, which at the... More

For such a lovely looking hotel (on the outside) who knew the facilities would be so disappointing. Completely unorganized and rude therapist. Told to arrive at 11 but some how first treatment was 10.45. 5pm deal, so because of this i imagine we were put to the back of the list as opposed to hotel customers. Facilities are awful. Tiny... We spent three nights in the Carlton. Our room was on the front of the hotel which overlooked the very busy and very noisy North Bridge which was a shame. Ask for a room at the rear. The detail of the hotel reveals an under investment is some basic maintenance which are the things that your average punter should not,... More

I stayed here with my husband as part of my birthday. The hotel is in a perfect location and due to my disability it was easy for me to access the local shops and bars. The decor of the hotel is old fashioned which makes the hotel unique as well suited to Edinburgh. The rooms where comfy and clean. We... More

Did not stay at the hotel but was given a Red Letter Day Champagne Tea for my birthday. Maybe I was expecting too much as, although the tea was good and we had a full glass of champagne there was very little care from the staff. The waitress did not explain anything and we had to ask what sandwiches we... More
