Arrived at the hotel and was pleased with first impressions. Reception was welcoming as was the staff. Booked in quickly and went to our room, found it to be a little small with lack of draw space. Had to open windows at night due to heat and no air con, but the noisy road outside made it difficult to get... More

I was happy with the hotel, but it is a bit dated. Situated on the bridge above Waverley Station it has a great location for sightseeing. The bus from the airport stops at and runs from waverly bridge just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. (turn towards the old town after getting off the bus, walk up the street past... More

Hotel is in a very central position. Five minutes walk from Waverley station. Staff at hotel were very friendly. When we arrived we were shown to our seats and asked what selection of sandwiches we would like. Plenty of sandwiches and scones with fresh cream and jam. And a selection of cakes. There was also a teapot of tea each.... More

My wife and I stated for the weekend. The location is fantastic. Right on the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh. Unfortunately the hotel is dated and tired. The room was dark, dingy and in imaginative. It was do hot that we opened the windows but then the street noise was do loud we still couldn't sleep. We asked... More

This hotel reminds me of the hotels I stayed in as a youth- yes, a bit dated, but evoked wonderful memories. The staff are friendly, and the fitness center was spacious. The room we had was very capacious and not terribly warm during the hot spell- just right, actually. The breakfasts were well done and had a good variety of... More

We were a family of 4 in two adjacent rooms. The first night we couldn't sleep because our rooms were over the royal mile and our window was broken, allowing all the hoots and hollers of the revelers to enter our room at 3 am. Moved rooms. Then the kids saw a mouse in their new room! Moved again. The... More

Very friendly staff. Perfect location. Large room, but AC didn´t work. The Gym and the pool was good. Breakfast with several choises, both hot and cold meal. We loved our stay in Edinburgh at Carlton Hotel.

Looks good when you enter the reception area but is a bit dated otherwise. Found bar service a bit slow and had a bit of a wait for breakfast. Bedroom basic but has all the amenities required for a short break. Staff are polite and helpful and have a good knowledge of local attractions. The hotel is ideally located for... More

When you pay four hundred dollars for a hotel room it is reasonable to expect the temperature to be controlled. If you read these reviews you will see time and time again people complaining about the heat. Believe it!!! I wish I had! They don't have a cooling system. They have fans and with the window only opening four inches... More

First the good news. This property is in a great city centre location and has a very good shower. Due to it's lack of air conditioning and the inability to open the room windows more than a couple of inches, this is no place to stay in the summer. My three night stay was as uncomfortable as I have ever... More
