The Carlton Hotel is in the perfect location for travelers without their own transport (Waverly Bus and Train Station is outside the door). There are a large number of pubs and restaurants walking distance from the hotel as well, as it's just off the Royal Mile. However, during our stay, we encountered only two staff members whose behavior was up... More

I had a great room with plenty of storage space, comfy bed, good bathroom with lots of hot water, and tea/coffee making facilities with Walkers Shortbread. Staff were pleasant and efficient in the hotel throughout my stay. Two gripes: serious traffic noise - better double glazing needed; and insane testing of alarm system early on Saturday morning.

This hotel is very easily accessed from street level across from the Waverly Edinburgh station. The staff are genuinely helpful and couldn't be more accommodating. They are polite without exception and very happy to make your stay as seamless as possible. Understand the hotel is refitting new windows in the near future, which will take care of some of the... Just spent four nights with my wife at The Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh - it was faultless! Excellent room, excellent bed, excellent food, excellent location, friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more! Well recommended!

Apart from the polite welcome at reception, I've nothing good to say about this hotel. The breakfast staff were sullen and unhelpful - we were only offered tea/coffee on one morning out of three! On the first morning, the toaster was switched off and the butter and marmalade were not available. Ordering room service took three phone calls as the... More

Just returning from 3 day stay in Edinburgh at this hotel, after reading previous reviews I was dubious about this visit. The good stuff: hotel modern, clean rooms spacious stated on 3rd floor at the back quiet can control heating in room, tv, tea and coffee etc bathroom clean, towels changed. We had dinner and breakfast, drinks not included in... More

Considering it is a 4* hotel we were very disappointed with our stay. We booked through secret escapes because we thought they only recommended quality hotels. The breakfast was appalling, you could die of thirst before you got your first cuppa. It wasn't a remotely Scottish experience. The only plus point was the room was large and comfortable and the... Thank goodness we had been given a voucher, which we were made to feel embarrassed about, only paid for the wine, £6.50 starters, £15 mains and £6 dessert a rip off and not much choice will not recommend to anyone

had a fabulous time clean friendly hotel, staff fantastic, situation of hotel brilliant, food excellent and all in all a very good break. Parking also convenient for a city hotel. he hotel is in a great location for seeing the sights of Edinburgh, and a short walk to many of the attractions.

Stayed for a special birthday and was thrilled to find that the hotel had left a card and chocolates for this birthday in the room (obviously remembered from when we made booking). Also delighted with the adjoining rooms. Dinner was great, breakfast was great. Reception staff when I checked in - fantastic! So helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and... More
