4 star NO WAY!!. 1960s style hotel with big windows, we were there with our two young boys aged 3 and 6. Given a room that was poorly kiited out, furniture old and damaged overlooking the smoking patio that a wedding hosting 200 people was located. Very noisy too. Complained and offered 3 other rooms, all of which were still... more
Brilliant place to stay in great location. Rooms are just as described and the food was good also!!! Next time I visit Edinburgh "Apex International " will be the only place I will stay!!. more
Ok for starters, a little about the hotel itself as we seen it! The International offers a great central location (as its in the Grass Market area of the city) and convenience to Edinburgh and its attractions/transport. It really is only a stone’s throw from the Castle & Royal mile and quaint 10/15mins walk from Princes street & George street... more
We booked this hotel due to it's location, however what we didn't realise was how noisy the Grassmarket was at night! Our room was at the back of the hotel which we thought would be better - There were functions on both nights we stayed at the hotel but the 'smoking area' was below our bedroom window - the noise... more
I was very disappointed in this hotel, I expected so much more for a 4-5 star hotel, room service was poor, food not very appealing, with very little selections. I expected a much larger room and services for the cost. I have traveled and stayed in many hotels. This was by far one of the poorest for the cost. The... more
My boyfriend and i stayed in the Apex International for 4 nights at the end of March. our cab from the airport cost £17 - about a 20 mins drive. we thought the location of the hotel was brilliant, great views of the castle, easy walking distance to Princes St (about 10 mins) and some lovely restaurants and unusual little... more
Clean, comfortable, congenial staff. The rooms were large and quite excellent (though the windows did not do much to keep the noise from Grassmarket out--especially annoying at night.) The view of the castle is the obvious highlight of location as is proximity to many shops & restaurants. The walk to centre city is a bit longer, though very doable. Overall... more
Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Lots of pubs & places to eat around. Everything is within walking distance. The view from the breakfast room is fab, over looking the castle. We went in November, so everywhere had teh Christmas decorations up, it was lovely. Scott, the manager was charming & very helpful. Check out the Mary Kings Close tour... more
We really had a great time at the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff with THE best view of the castle in the city. Some great places to eat nearby and right outside is the Grassmarket. more
