Stayed in August for 6 days as part of group booking, in Chancellors Court in twin-share room on 1st floor. Room was contemporary, clean and fresh, with opening window always a bonus. Room probably usually a single so space a little tight with the extra bed which could be a problem with large/lots of luggage but quite ok if you... More

Good; fantastic food, huge choice. Helpful reception. Attractive grounds. Awful: stayed in Fraser Court. Don't know if all Pollock Halls is similar, but no soap, not one piece of crockery or cutlery in the communal kitchen, no tea or coffee, no dish washing utensils, no TV. No shaver point anywhere. Congealed vomit over half the mattress. Took 5 consecutive days... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of the fringe. This is our return visit and I have to say the room was better than last time. Another reviewer must have been next door to us - sorry about my husbands snoring!! We didn't notice any noise but we were at the end of the corridor so only had... More

This was my second visit to the residence halls at U. Edinburgh, the first one 25 years earlier. It is very central and a great place to be for the fringe. It is no-frills, as it is a dorm, but a very reasonable costl especially during the festval. The included breakfast makes it a good value. The offerings are varied... More

Had a nice enough room with sink, towels, tea making facilities all in the room. The walls were paper thin and I could hear the snorer next door. Plenty of bathrooms and shower rooms on every corridor. Breakfast was quite an experience, extremely busy. The food was fantastic, plenty of choice and could go back and forth as mich as... More

By and large I rather liked Pollock Halls. It's a huge complex with lovely gardens, and just round the corner from Arthur's Seat. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are wonderful.....everything for carnivores, and also good for veggies such as myself, I loved the grapefruit segments with yogurt. I was disappointed,... More

Had a two night stay here and found the facilities were good for what we wanted. There are no frills but we didn't want them. The breakfast is vegan friendly and is very filling, though if you are wanting to eat a vegan meal here on an evening then I recommend requesting this in advance as they smear their vegetables... Just back from 3 nights at Pollock Halls. We were in Edinburgh for the festival. Rooms are perfectly adequate - clearly nice student/ conference accommodation. Not a hotel but this is what we expected. £350 for 3 nights b and b for me and my daughter seemed a tad pricy. Breakfast is fantastic, left us only needing dinner later! Beds... More

+ Clean rooms + Friendly staff at check-in -- Poor quality of sleep as the walls are very thin and you can therefore hear seemingly every door open and shut along the corridor - Location is mediocre as it is a 25 minute walk from the city center - (Shared) bathrooms are clean but small, especially the plastic shower -...
