We spent a night there with my brother. very close to the city hence convenient. Rooms were basic but very clean and smart. Breakfast was amazing. Great for short trips. Pity there was no wifi in the rooms but we were pretty much up and about, but great place to rest your head at night.

We were in Edinburgh for a family wedding, the venue was a ten minute walk away which is why we chose Pollock Halls for our stay. It was very reasonably priced for the type of accommodation. The room was basic, shower lovely and hot though I would agree the room walls appeared to be a little thin. Housekeeping staff were... More

Basic, clean & comfortable accommodation in student housing unit. Plentiful breakfast options included. Easy access to Royal Mile and train station with 30 or 31 bus. Had an ensuite room with wifi in Holland building. On site laundry facilites and Sainsburys close by.

Nice play to stay, a bit pricey as it was during the military tattoo but it was a 20min walk to the main town and the room and bathrooms were clean. The bad side was the lift was broken 3 out of the 5 days I was there. I had to carry my bags up and down the stairs although... More

Our group of 13 usually stay at Holywood Aparthotel, but could not get in this year, so stayed here, which was cheaper . . . in every sense. The reception staff were great, the breakfast was plentiful, but the rooms are small, very basic, and my duvet smelled of . . . male student! I made the mistake of eating... More

I booked my single room at Pollock Halls for my stay during the Edinburgh Festival. It is very affordable and conveniently located about a 15 minute walk from the Royal Mile and is also serviced by a couple of bus routes. A huge breakfast buffet is included with your stay - a nice perk that will save you some money.... More

It is located under King Arthur's seat which makes the views brilliant. It is a short taxi distance or a nice reasonable walk from the train station. There is a bar on site which has good atmosphere and does nice food and drink. The breakfast is a typical self service breakfast so, average. I believe you can have self service... More

Stayed in August for 6 days as part of group booking, in Chancellors Court in twin-share room on 1st floor. Room was contemporary, clean and fresh, with opening window always a bonus. Room probably usually a single so space a little tight with the extra bed which could be a problem with large/lots of luggage but quite ok if you... More

Good; fantastic food, huge choice. Helpful reception. Attractive grounds. Awful: stayed in Fraser Court. Don't know if all Pollock Halls is similar, but no soap, not one piece of crockery or cutlery in the communal kitchen, no tea or coffee, no dish washing utensils, no TV. No shaver point anywhere. Congealed vomit over half the mattress. Took 5 consecutive days... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of the fringe. This is our return visit and I have to say the room was better than last time. Another reviewer must have been next door to us - sorry about my husbands snoring!! We didn't notice any noise but we were at the end of the corridor so only had... More
