clean, central, friendly & very helpful reception staff. Comfy beds. Good value for money. you don't pay much, so one should not expect much, but in Travelodge you get more. we had three rooms and without asking we had three spacious rooms next to each other.

My recent stay was made so enjoyable with the helpful reception staff. Unfortunately, the entrance is in a lane not very welcoming. However, reception staff made us more than welcome, credit to the company

Arrived on a Saturday and were greeted with a sad front to this hotel but superbly positioned . The reception staff were fantastic and hopefully ( not checked card yet ) sorted out a booking problem with Travelodge terrible website and ease of contact !!! The 8 of us had rooms on different floors with myself on the 3rd ,... More

Great location in the New Town on Princes Street with the entrance on Meuse Lane. Waverley train station and Waverley Bridge, where you can get airport or tour buses, are across the street. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants in the area so there's no need to walk very far. The Old Town, Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle are all... More

I found this hotel was only a short walk from the bus station and also train station. Perfectly located for shops. Staff very friendly and had good space behind reception for storing bags before checkin/out. Will definitely be back.

Excellent value for money, near Waverley train station near Princess street for shopping, near pubs and restaurants, brilliant for sight seeing also. All in all it was great and we will visit again. Fab

We stayed in a family room for a girly weekend away. The room was a good size and spotless. From check in to check out the staff were polite and helpfull. A great place to stay for a budget weekend away in Edinburgh.

Basic but clean, functional and comfortable. Great location for the price - right at Waverley Station in Edinburgh. Used as stopover to catch the train the next day to London. Lacking a hairdryer which is a bit of an essential item in the winter and not something you want to carry with you.

We chose to stay at Travelodge due to the short distance from Edinburgh Waverly station and were pleasantly surprised by the value for money this hotel provided. We were greeted every time staff saw us and wished a good day. The corridors and room were immaculate. However a hair dryer was not provided which is only a minor issue but... More

Stayed for a weekend break hotel is right in the centre with easy access for both the old and new town just a few mins from the train station. Was building work going on next to the hotel but didn't disturb us. Reception staff were very friendly advising on how to get around town, places to eat pubs etc. only... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
