The location of this hotel is great for shops, restaurants and attractions. However, I was not impressed with the lack of response from staff when I reported our curtain hanging off the rail leaving a massive gap and lack of privacy. It was not fixed during our stay, which was most disappointing.

Spent 2 nights in a family room with 2 adults, 2children. The room was very spacious with plenty of room to move freely. We had a great view overlooking Edinburgh. The only downside was the bath filled up when taking a shower and it took some time for the water to drain away but this wasn't a big issue for... More

We have stayed in many travelodges and you know what to expect. Room was comfortable, the hotel did not have a restaurant for breakfast or parking facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful, when we asked about places we were visiting etc... The entrance to this Travelodge had a lot to be desired. It is down a grubby old side... More

We stayed 3 nights; - the friendly helpful welcome from all staff and the great hotel room - comfortable bed, spotlessly clean bathroom all made for a pleasant stay. The room has a small desk, jug, tea coffee, mugs, TV. The bathroom has soap dispensers but no other amenities. However, noticed that a hairdryer could be borrowed from reception. The... More

Overnight stay, lovely room, clean, tidy and comfortable, bathroom bright and clean. Lovely lady on reception told us nearby places to eat, just ten minutes from rail station Great just what we wanted.

Only a couple of minutes’ walk from Edinburgh Waverley station and very handy for a city visit. Don't let the Gotham City frontage distract you, inside is a very clean and comfortable hotel. The reception staff on arrival/departure were very friendly and very helpful and the rooms/bathrooms are a good size and more importantly SPOTLESS. Also the hotel was very... More

Staying here and it's perfect for the bars and shopping. Room is basic, but spotless. The cleanliness is the best I've seen. Only one downside and admittedly outwith travelodge's control. There is major renovations next to the hotel so at 7am you'll be greeted by builders shouting and the noise of scaffolding being erected. That aside would definitely recommend.

Perfectly situated hotel on princes st opposite train station. We arrived early but staff were happy to let us leave our luggage in exchange for a small donation to their MacMillan charity box. Staff could not have been more helpful. Everyone we encountered including the cleaners, made us feel very welcome and were so friendly. Our family room was spacious.... More

Was a clean and pleasant stay, close to everything, good views, large rooms and still kept the noise of the Main Street outside. There was even a bit of construction going on at building next door, heard nothing. Would come again.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
