My husband and I recently had a 1 night stay here at The Glasshouse. We got a deal through Secret Escapes, (around £130 for B&B including a small bottle of wine). The hotel is in a great location, near to Waverley Station and Princess street and the staff were friendly and polite. We enjoyed our stay but I would comment... More

I stayed here during the Scotland vs England game in February and can't complain at the hotel which is well located with great rooms featuring comfy beds and nice views. My only complaint about the hotel itself would be the layout is a bit of a maze with insufficient signage. My trip was slightly marred by the service at breakfast.... More

Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your recent rugby trip, I am glad the room was to your liking. Our central location is ideal for the majority of Edinburgh's main attractions, and the tram stop just outside takes you straight to the national stadium, Murrayfield, or even on to the airport. I am sorry that breakfast was... More

I thought dinner was fairly average for a 5* hotel. I could have made my main at home - venison with cabbage. Desert was nice but not enough in the way of drinks choices - no cocktails! It's right up the back of the hotel it's not a particularly great area, no windows and it's a long walk to get... More

I am very sorry to read how disappointed you were with your recent visit to The Observatory. We made the decision to open the restaurant to the public early last year, and feedback has been very positive overall. Our Chef, Dan Mellor, brings in locally sourced foods and adds his own contemporary twist to his menu. We are in the... More

Enjoyed my trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. Staying at The Glasshouse was a good choice, great location for catching tour busses, eating out, theater and close to many attractions. Staff is helpful, rooms are large and comfortable and my room had a great view of the garden and terrace.

I arrived with my 8 year old daughter to stay overnight for a One Direction concert at the Arena. Just 5 minutes from Victoria train station, it was very easy to get to. There were plenty of staff around on arrival and check in was quick and easy. The staff member who checked us in was very friendly, asking my... More

Recently stayed at the Glasshouse whilst in Edinburgh for a show at the playhouse , its in a great location directly next to the playhouse and Omni centre and princess street 2 mins away. The accommodation is of a very high standard clean and very comfortable the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely book again.

Room was great, location as well. Bed is super comfort. Weak point that rom was ready only at 16.30! that was quite tiring after flight etc. Some details in organization are missing. NO hair conditioner in the room! But overall good hotel. Liked it.

Really nice long weekend at The Glasshouse. The service and staff were fantastic, really nice rooms with good views of the town and the snow capped hills in the distance. And The Snug (honesty bar) is a nice touch! Great location too. Would recommend to anyone staying in Edinburgh for business or pleasure.

Beautiful hotel bang in the middle of Edinburg. We were there to see Vic & Bob at the Playhouse.. The welcome from reception was first class and the staff extremely helpful and warm. I stayed at the hotel for a night with my boyfriend and first impressions were fabulous! It was in a great location, had lovely rooms with beautiful views, excellent staff and we felt very welcome. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
