Recently stayed at the Glasshouse whilst in Edinburgh for a show at the playhouse , its in a great location directly next to the playhouse and Omni centre and princess street 2 mins away. The accommodation is of a very high standard clean and very comfortable the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely book again.

Room was great, location as well. Bed is super comfort. Weak point that rom was ready only at 16.30! that was quite tiring after flight etc. Some details in organization are missing. NO hair conditioner in the room! But overall good hotel. Liked it.

Really nice long weekend at The Glasshouse. The service and staff were fantastic, really nice rooms with good views of the town and the snow capped hills in the distance. And The Snug (honesty bar) is a nice touch! Great location too. Would recommend to anyone staying in Edinburgh for business or pleasure.

Beautiful hotel bang in the middle of Edinburg. We were there to see Vic & Bob at the Playhouse.. The welcome from reception was first class and the staff extremely helpful and warm. The room was very stylish and as is the hotel itself . The attention to detail and ambience is everything you would expect from a Boutique Hotel... More

I stayed at the hotel for a night with my boyfriend and first impressions were fabulous! It was in a great location, had lovely rooms with beautiful views, excellent staff and we felt very welcome. We didn't eat in the restaurant but came back to the snug for a drink later on the Friday evening. The honesty bar was very... More

The Glasshouse is in a great location in the heart of Edinburgh. Indeed, we were impressed by the welcoming hospitality of the staff. The hotel itself is sleek, modern and spacious. Whilst our room was clearly not a renovated one (one member of the party having stayed before) it was comfortable, large and clean. We did find our safe did... More

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for 5 nights between Christmas 2015 and New Year. I'd previously stayed here 10 years before for a night and back then it was amazing. We'd booked the standard room with no extra frills. The room was gorgeous, so clean and welcoming. However the heating was broken, I noticed straight away as the... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
