Such a delightful place, the rooms are extensive, the furniture lively, the atmosphere relaxing and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely all cooked to order. We had a lovely stay and Corrine and Simon are first class hosts, I throughly recommend this establishment.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Number 29 during our visit to Edinburgh last month. The B&B is located within walking distance to Princess street & the castle. The surrounding was quiet and peaceful (our room is opposite the beautiful St. Mary's church). We stayed in room 1, I must say the interior of the room is better... More

Just as we hoped after reading all those good Tripadvisor ratings. Super friendly hosts, beautiful place, and fantastic breakfast. They go the extra mile for their guests. Very friendly for kids also. A bit expensive but it was all worth it We highly recommend Number 29 - could not have been better

My husband and I have stayed at numerous B&Bs around the world and Number 29 is the best we have ever experienced. We stayed in Room 1 and it was way more than we ever expected. Room 1 is essentially a huge apartment (minus a kitchen). You have a huge bedroom with a free-standing tub and a separate living room,... More

Me and my friends had such a lovely stay at No.29 last summer. It felt like home away from home.. To comfortable bed& clean, lovely decorated room to delicious breakfast.. Can't say enough of how much I loved this place ! To me, it was the best B&B experience I've ever had. On top of everything, the host were very... More

Had a 2 night break here recently. What a wonderful place! From the very warm welcome, to the stunning suite and the delicious breakfast. This is no ordinary B&B. Only downside is I've come away with severe house envy! Thankyou for a wonderful time.

Number 29 is an absolute gem. It’s in a great location in the West End, just five minutes walk from Haymarket train station, but also close enough to Princess Street and the Old Town. We stayed in room one and we were not prepared for how much space you have in the suite. It is huge and decorated to a... More

We spent 5 very comfortable nights with Simon and Corinne. Their house is beautiful and was lovely and warm on a cold and wet Edinburgh week. Breakfast set us up for the day. The location was brilliant and an added advantage was the car parking. We parked the car when we arrived and didn't use it again until the day... More

My wife and I stayed at Number 29 for a weekend. I wish we could have stayed for a week. The pace is wonderful- exactly what I would like out of a B&B. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, and ours (number 2, upstairs) had a fantastic view of the cathedral cross the street. Meals involve cereals, fresh fruit,... More

We flew up from Manchester and caught the tram to 'West End' which is literally 2.5 mins walk to this wonderful establishment. We couldn't get over the brilliant location of Number 29. We stayed in magnificent Room One which overlooks St Mary's Cathedral at the front of the property. All the original Georgian features still intact and Décor very simple... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
