My partner and I stayed here over the bank holiday weekend. While superficially, the rooms are funky and cool, in many places, the laminate had come off in numerous places, the curtains did not close properly and did not block out the light - the room was simply tired and tatty. The bath was not clean and I was not... more
This is the third time I have stayed at Rick's and is was definitely the best. We stayed here last July and unfortunately things weren't quite as good but I'm glad to say that things have really improved. If you came here last year and weren't impressed I suggest you give it another go. We stayed for two nights in... more
Stayed for one night. Got room 9 which was lovely. Very helpful reception staff, stunning room and fabulous breakfast in an excellent location. Will be back. more
Such a brilliant hotel - wonderful rooms, with amazingly comfy beds and lots of lovely free Molton Brown smellies by the bath. Staff very very friendly - literally couldn't do enough for us. Even found us a pizza takeaway which was open at 3am to satisfy our drunken craving for junk food! Well beyond the call of duty!Location spot on... more
Stayed in this cool bar with rooms (rather than hotel) in early November 2006 on a very good deal from a national newspaper. Check in reasonably smooth even if we did arrive a little earlier than the 14:00 check in time and were asked to come back. Sweet, good natured reception and bar staff contrary to previous reviews were very... more
Excellent location in central Edinburgh. The room was nicely decorated with an LCD TV, Freeview (digital terrestial receiver) and DVD player. The Freeview box was a nice touch as it gave plenty of channels to choose from. The bathroom was small but good use was made of the space but felt slightly "grubby" and the toilet hadn't been cleaned below... more
We booked Ricks following a recommendation and were not disappointed at all. After a very long day and arriving at the hotel 2 hours behind schedule (thanks to the airline), we were met by the exceptionally friendly staff. The room was fabulous and lived up to everything that the website had described - The complimentary drink at midnight from the... more
We booked Ricks after reading the reviews on here and we weren't disappointed. We had already been in the UK for 2 weeks when we arrived here and I have to say that the rooms were just beautiful. Not what we expected from the outside. Ricks had the best shower than anywhere else we stayed in the 3 weeks that... more
We visited Edinburgh for a weekend in early July 06 and chose Rick's on the basis of a number of reviews which glowing endorsed it. We also generally love such boutique hotels. However, our stay could be described as disasterous, at best. We arrived late on Friday night flight and when we got to Rick's only the bar staff were... more
