This hotel has great potential but unfortunately was let down by the poor finish and location of the rooms. On the whole the service was good- the breakfasts are to die for (especially the waffles!) and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The downside was that the room was a bit tardy. One of the draw fronts within the wardrobe came... more

We arrived before check in time an although our room was not ready, our luggage was stored readily. It's not a hotel as such as reception is effectively the front desk for the bar and the restaurant also. It was good to see that even before lunchtime the place was fairly busy with people enjoying tea or coffee or brunch.... more

We where a group of 5 friends away for the weekend. We arrived early evening to a very stylish hotel, whilst we where getting checked in we sat and enjoyed a drink in the bar which always had a great relaxing buzz about it, We where shown to our rooms by a very helpful manager who always had time for... more

Modern, clean, with a great restaurant & bar on the main floor, it was way better that what we were able to find in London. The staff is charming, everything was just perfect ;-)) more

Having recieved numerous advertisements from Ricks on my e-mail,I insisted that we try there for lunch when I met up with my Scottish buddy in Edinburgh after 20 years. We wondered why no-one was sitting outside as all the other restaurants on the way were jammed packed...we sat down-20 mins later and after lots of eyes at the waitress-no service,so... more

We arrived at Rick's at about 11pm and were met by friendly staff who checked us in and offered to carry our bags to our room. Couldn't fault the room, although the shower could do with a little attention (Room 3) if it was turned on at full power, the whole room was showered !! Breakfast was excellent, just what... more

we were glad we spent our first weekend away without kids with good company because this hotel did not live up to our expectations! We assumed because of the B&B tariff that it would be out of this world - how dissapointed were we?! The entrance & reception appear to be stuck on to the end of the bar however... more

Overall, the stay was pleasant and the staff let me check in early at 11:00 am. I found the bar and restaurant staff friendly. The rooms were clean and trendy yet a bit "tired" from over ten years of hotel guests. I understood that the hotel will go through some renovations in the next month before the Edinburgh festival. The... more

Rick's is a friendly, bustling small hotel in a great City Centre location, however it's four star rating is misleading. I'm sure it lived up to the hype when it first opened, but not now. Our bedroom certainly wasn't 'super chic': light in bathroom not working; chipped floor tiles; dirty marks on carpets; dirty footprints on hall tiles; holes in... more

Have been eating and drinking (from breakfast to late nights) in Ricks for years on our annual trips to the Fringe, but this was first out-of-season stay. Service, from welcome throughout, was superb - friendly, v v helpful and cheerful. Food excellent as ever. From late arrival dinner on Friday night to Sunday bellini breakfast. Room was excellent. Cool, as... more
