From the initial booking to having to leave, everything was great. The comms and emails from Odette were very helpful. Derek, who showed us around the apartment and pointed out a few local landmarket was very helpful, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Nothing was a problem. The flat, in the Grassmarket was perfect location and could walk everywhere we needed within 20... More

The apartment is not big but huge, I stayed there with my sister and brother. We had everything from washing machine and detergent to wash our clothes to anything else you could possibly need. Very clean and with a great kitchen. Location is superb and in walking distance to everything important. Great view and close to pubs and restaurants. Keep... More

Stayed here as just a couple and had a great time in 12/1 Parliament Square. The price for what you get was definitely a bargain! High vaulted ceilings, fantastic views of Parliament Square and the Royal Mile and a feeling of grandeur in the old town. The whole apartment was clean and secure, modern throughout and very spacious. The only... More

Just on the way home after a great stay at the Grassmarket Apartment. We came to Edinburgh for the opening of the Christmas markets and were pleased to find this apartment as a cheaper alternative to the pricey hotels. We certainly did not regret the decision. We were met nearby the apartment by the Owner Derek, who was really friendly... More

My family and I stayed in the apartment located in Parliament square and we absolutely loved it. The location is unbelievable with the royal mile basically at your doorstep and the views from the living room and master bedroom windows are fantastic. In addition to the amenities, the manager who brought us to our apartment was friendly and helpful with... More

We stayed at the apartment on Johnston terrace which is very close to the castle. We arranged to meet Derek at the apartment, he was very nice and helpful. He showed us around and gave us tips and where to eat, what to do etc. It is a 200 year old building but the apartment is pretty modern and was... More

So, after reading reviews here and there we (My Girlfriend and I) decided to go with Greyfriars Apartments and it was worth every penny. The apartment we had was 1 parliament square (there are a few of them), it didn't face the Royal Mile, but I was dead smack right in the middle of it. The owner and I were... More

Stayed at the Apartment at 90 Grassmarket over the Festival. Location was ideal - right at the heart of the festivities, but the double glazing ensured thie noise was never a problem. Often it was nice just to open the windows and let the sights and sounds of the Grassmarket into the room. The Apartment itself was spacious with everything... More

Generally great-the location is fantastic and the old town is a wonderful place to be. The staff (Derek) were quite pleasant. Keep in mind that the place is a bit old. The floor creaks and the furniture is a bit hard. Do not plop onto the couch! Also, the shower is a bit difficult to get in and out of... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
