Stayed at the Holyrood Aparthotel last weekend and we were super happy about everything... The flat was neat, clean, spacious and good value for he price... Quiet as well but centrally located, few minutes walk from bars and restaurants also museum and near the train station. Absolutely no regrets with our choice :) we did not see the staff much... My husband & I spent two nights in a studio at around the same cost as a miniature, basic hotel room on a room only basis in the city centre. For the sake of a pleasant 15 minute walk via the Royal Mile to the centre of the old town (or a less pleasant 12 minute walk up Cowgate for... More

We stayed here in a studio apartment for three nights whilst attending a wedding. It was clean, well presented with a comfortable bed and everything needed for self catering. It is very well situated for the Royal Mile, Holyrood etc.. The staff were friendly and always helpful. My only complaint is the absence of instructions for using the cooker, hob... More

I stayed here over a weekend in late January in the studio apartment. To my surprise, the room was extremely spacious, well-kept and nicely furnished. It was also extremely convenient having a washing machine/dryer and kitchen facilities available, while the heated towel rack in the ensuite bathroom was a nice addition. Location-wise the hotel is located near the bottom of... More

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. The 2 double rooms were nicely furnished and ensuite was clean with fresh towels. The lounge, dining and kitchen area was also well stocked, and perfect for if you're making your own food at the apartment. Lacks free Wi-Fi which would be a problem if I'd had my kids with me! Really close... More

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of Jan. We arrived at around 9pm in the evening and check in was very quick thankfully as we were freezing (it was snowing outside). We got to the room and first impression was great, massive bed, fully fitted kitchen, modern tiled bathroom with power shower. My only... More

Booked a two night stay here because we like the extra space an apartment offers. We had booked a two bed/two bathroom and were surprised to find on arrival that we had been given one with a bathroom fully kitted out for a disabled guest, neither of us is disabled so we asked if we could move to a different... A good value for money hotel close to the centre of town (walking distance) and close to food and shops. Very helpful staff and good clean rooms, with facilities including a little kitchen. Really could not fault it for the price we paid. Or maybe I could the lift needs to have a sensor installed.

The apartment was ideal for our needs. Quite spacious with good quality beds, chairs etc. Everything one could want. Dishwasher, tv, DVDs if needed. Staff very helpful on arrival. Wifi free. Position is amazing being near Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace. Tesco xtra nearby. Nice and warm too. If you are looking for a view probably not for you but... More

We stayed here 9th January, the staff are very pleasant, the apartment was excellent very clean and warm on a cold day. It had everything that you would need for one night or longer. We would stay here again.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
