We couldn't have chosen better. The Holyrood Aparthotel was superb. We rented an apartment which was spotlessly, clean, a breakfast hamper was available for free and was packed with everything you would associate with a good breakfast. The kitchen was fully equipped from a toaster to a dishwasher, all white goods worked well and would sustain anyone staying longer than a... More

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is located towards the Holyrood Palace/Parliment end of the Royal Mile (other end is where Edinburgh Castle is located). It is a 2 minute walk, cutting through a back alley, to the Royal Mile which is a very convenient feature. This is an apartment style hotel which gives provides lots of room.... More

I stayed here on my latest rugby trip to Edinburgh and the apartment had everything you could need, including a shared fitness room. It is also located in the Old Town perfect for visiting the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and Park as well as the new parliament building.

Overall, the place was excellent. It offers a full apartment, with the cleaning services of a hotel. If you're staying a few days, having your own kitchen and living area is invaluable. We stayed in a 4 person apartment, which had a double bed in one room, and 2 singles in the other. It also had two full bathrooms which... More

Dear Donal, Thank you for your review of Holyrood apartHOTEL, delighted to hear that you found your apartment to be spacious and great value for money. Unfortunately the window opening is a health and safety restriction; however future guests should note that the apartments are generally very bright and airy. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Holyrood... More

Enjoyed the set up of coming and going as you please with your room card. Room was excellent with a good kitchen. Few minor issues but nothing to detract from the experience. Perhaps a second chair at the dining table but a comfy sofa made a makeshift fix for this. Will return and recommend to others!

We stayed for three nights in March 2015 and had a great stay. Perfect location, well appointed kitchen and great to have the freedom of an apartment rather than a hotel. A few minor things we noticed were; 3-4 light bulbs out in the apartment, broken heater, hole in the wall next to the kitchen light switch, marked shower curtain... More

This apartment was so clean and spacious, and was a brilliant place to stay. It was close to the city centre, I could walk everywhere and I felt like I still had a lot of privacy. Would definitely stay here again! The beds were so comfortable.

Had a great three nights here in Feb.2015. Loved it! Yes its getting a bit tired the WI-fi is very poor and it had the creakiest floor I have ever heard! Good beds plenty of pillows and comfy settees and chairs. But the staff are friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. Its very central to the old town.... More

We spent two night in the Holyrood apartHOTEL, it was centrally situated and had all the amenities that we required. I would recommend that you request carparking at the time of booking, to avoid any disappointment in trying to find alternative parking in adjacent streets. Despite its central location, it is quiet, we would definitely return in the future.

An excellent review and my sincerest thanks to this traveller for their kind words. The only thing I can add is to reiterate the point about the importance of booking a parking space in advance to avoid disappointment. Leon Kiteley General Manager More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
