We stayed at the Melvin House Hotel for a weekend away in Edinburgh, a found it to be a great place to stay. It's traditionally styled, close to the city centre and fab restaurants on Geoge street. We stayed on the second floor in a double (well triple) room - which was more than big enough; it had a tv... more

Our second stay in this lovely hotel and we were upgraded! The room is huge with lots of fluffy towels, good toiletries and space with views over the Dean Village and the Firth of Forth to Fife. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful although communication at breakfast was a bit difficult at times as English is definitely a... more

I am just back from a 4 night stay at the Melvin House Hotel. I really would recommend this hotel. It is in a lovely area (West End) which is less than 5 mins walk from Princes Street. This is a hotel with character, the building is lovely, the staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast is very good; and all... more

Mature couple from the Nethelands The hotel is situated in a quiet street, app. 10 minutes from the centre. The staff is helpfull. The rooms are clean and large. There is a great variety in breakfast, fruits, cereals, fully cooked breakfast, etc. We would stay here again the next time we visit Edinburgh. more

The breakfasts were great - very well cooked and lots of choice. I would return to this Hotel in a flash - very reasonable... more

We decided at the last minute to visit Edinburgh at the end of the Festival. We did not make any reservations and when we arrived midday we contacted the local Tourist Information office and they found us a room at the Melvin - we had our dog with us too! We were warmly welcomed and offered our choice of two... more

Located close to the centre of Edinburgh, this Hotel is ideal for exploring the city. It is an older style, and a lift that will take only 2 persons, or just one with luggage, makes it more of a challenge (the stairs are the only other way up!). Rooms at the back of the hotel look over a steep valley... more

An intimate hotel with an old world charm, well positioned in a quiet street in Edinburgh's West End. Beautiful Victorian features, pleasant veiws and very friendly staff made this a pleasant stay. Good speed free broadband, though only in the dining, lobby & lounge areas. Lifts are tiny but that's the small price you pay for heritage like this. A... more
