we stayed for 3 nights this past week and found it very clean, restful and quiet . Also a great area to get buses to the city center. Would stay here again. If there was a. Negative, I would maybe suggest new mattresses for the beds, or get box springs for them.

I stayed three nights with my teenage daughter at Cruachan, and it was just about perfect. Graham was very welcoming, and made everything easy. He confirmed we were coming via email the day before, and although he wasn't there when we arrived, he had everything organised for us to find our room without a fuss. The room was comfortable. The... More

I stayed here two nights and enjoyed it very much. A warm welcome by Graham, the owner. He also makes delicious breakfasts which are more than enough for much of the day. Rooms are a little older, but I actually like that better than the modern stuff. It's very clean, including the bathroom. Just a 5-10 minute walk from central... More

First, I'm not thrill of having people step inside the room with shoes on. That's what the owner did when he had to make adjustments to the shower because there was no hot water. And after two nights, I had to switch room because the one that I reserved wasn't a suite. So basically, shoes, shower, switch rooms, that's 3... More

I travelled to Edinburgh for the first time and stayed at the Cruachan in their single room on the first floor and it didnt have attached bath (they do have an en-suite single but it was booked, as Graham, the owner, had informed me over email). So honestly, I was a little unsure about the place at first. I got... More

Very homely and welcoming. Great value for money considering that its short distance to the city centre. In comparison to the other guest houses within its vicinity, the Crauchan is clean, quiet and relaxing with very hospitable staff. Having read the other reviews, the Cauchan exceeds one's expectations. It appears that fellow reviewers fail to take into account that it... More

We stayed for a week-end at Cruachan and have only praise for the time spent there. The staff were so helpful with all our needs. The advice on restaurants was perfect as we had a wonderful night at "Leven's" where the food was superb. Breakfast had a great choice and I loved the salmon fishcakes. Graham and Julie were good... Very helpful and friendly. We were made to feel very welcome and it was not a problem when we had to change our booking 3 times due to flight problems. Delicious cooked breakfasts always get extra points:-). Short walking distance to City Center so its ideal for shopping trips or taking in a show.

My husband and I stayed here in October 2012 for 2 nights. I telephoned well in advance to book the double ensuite and informed the owner Graham that we were both vegetarian and went through the type of things we can eat at breakfast. On arrival, there was no-one there to meet us. We ran the bell twice and had... More

We stayed there 09-27 - 09-30. No shower in the room we had to share on shower with all the other guests. Room was cold and we could not regulate the heat. Coffee maker sits on the floor, we got only one key and the heater leaked water the whole floor was wet. Breakfast was okay. 60 pounds a night... More
