I recently stayed in this hotel, and only have praise for its comfort and style. The decor is very funky and modern, but with a traditional and classic twist. One of the most beautiful features of this hotel is it beautiful library room with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and incredibly comfy sofas and chairs where you can while away the hours with... More

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter and this is one of the best places of its type I have ever stayed in. The building dates back over 150 years and has been transformed to its former glory. The entry is magnificent with a marble staircase going up to the first floor. There is reception, a bar and breakfast room... More

We usually rely on Rick Steve's recommendations but all of his places to sleep required a bus trip to get into the city. I found this in the Lonely Planet book and I'm glad I did. It's a 10 minute walk to Prince St. Very quiet location. View from our room was phenomenal (we were in room 1, a perfect... More

I came by this absolute gem via a hotel site, and the price was good (more than I'd usually pay for two nights but I was treating myself) and it was a great choice. Not far from Prince Street but tucked away enough that not too much noise got to me at night, the staff was very welcoming and friendly.... More

Stayed for three nights with my wife and we have to say that this is probably one of the best places of it's type that we have ever stayed in. I think we had the best room ( number five), more like a junior suite than simply a room and it had a great view. The reception staff have got... More

Was looking to stay somewhere for one night and saw this place from Tripadvisor. Contacted the hotel directly when I saw a price quote from somewhere else asking them if they could match it. Not only did they do that but did a better deal so always contact them directly. Their location is not too far out of the centre.... More

Thank you so much for reviewing - it is great to receive positive feedback and helpful tips for improvement. Thank you for sharing the tip about the tram - agreed that travel from the airport or city centre couldn't be easier with this great service. The West End stop is literally one straight road to our front door. We look... More

Have spent a lot more money on staying in far less worthy hotels. This is part of a small group of hotels across the UK and attention to detail and customer service is second to none. About a fifteen minute walk from hubbub of Edinburgh, this hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and retains many of the original... More

Situated just away from the hustle and bustle of town but not so far that walking into town isn't exhausting. Our room was spacious, bed very comfortable and shower powerful. The room was cleaned everyday and the breakfast on offer was a good choice of fruit, cereals and cooked breakfast (although black pudding option wouldn't go amiss). The staff were... More

Thank you very much for taking time to review. The West End Village is well known for peace and quiet despite it's proximity to Princes Street and the hustle and bustle of City life. Please book direct on your next visit - we are able to allocate the very best room for your requirements this way. Thanks again - all... More

Don't be put off with the name of this hotel, B&B stands for "belong & benefit", this being the name of the hotel group. Just returned having spent 2 nights in this very quiet hotel located 10 minutes flat walking distance from Princes St. This is a small hotel with lots of character. Check-in very easy with very helpful staff.... More

Thank you very much for reviewing. We agree that the rooms at the back of the house are wonderful - tranquil views across to the Firth of Forth - you could be forgiven for forgetting you are in the heart of the city! Do join the Club - 'Belong + Benefit' is a great opportunity to do just that and... More

My wife, college aged son and I stayed here for two nights in early March. It's very comfortable and conveniently located and the staff was very nice. We would stay at B+B Edinburgh again. It has an elevator, albeit small.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
