Excellent location - walking distance from transportation services including the Waverley Train Station. Walking distance to almost everything!! Kitchen is always kept clean. Toilets and shower rooms are always clean. There is also laundry service. You can either do it yourself for 6 pounds or pay 10 pounds for their services. Rooms are clean and well-maintained. As long as your... More

As a traveler who has never done a hostel, I was really impressed! Clean, fresh linen and great showers (yes, this is a big must have). The best part? Free breakfast! Many hostels don't offer free breakfast!!! The staff are amazing, friendly and let you know about the best places to go, food to try and everything else. Really, you... More

This hostel is located in a building close to the train station. You walk upp two sets of stairs to enter the hostel. Inside it's very clean and the kitchen area has everyting you need eg toaster and water boiler. The bedroom is tidy and clean as well as the kitchen and bathroom area. This hostel has a typical hostel... More

Easy enough to find along the main street opposite the Waverly train station. Quite a lot of steps up to the hostel and may be a chore to lug suitcases up but it was a minor inconvenience. The guy at the reception was extremely friendly and helpful and on the last day of our stay even helped to lug the... More

Great location, efficiently run with just about everything to hand. I found it very friendly and was surprised as it was my first time in a Hostel. Met some nice people too. Location above Pub does mean noise.

I am very skeptical about cleanliness and hostels, but this one was immaculate. The staff is friendly and always there to help. It is value for money considering the quality. The location is great, just 20 steps from the station and the royal mile is a 5 minute walk away. The breakfast was alright but considering its a hostel the... More

18 of us stayed here for a stag do and it was ideal. One key per room, but staff always on hand to let u in and out if you haven't got the key. Top staff and perfect location. Would recommend highly. Happy to sort taxis and print boarding passes too.

I loved my stay at Haggis Hostel. It was a little hard to find at night, but I've been to many hostels and it was well worth it. The location was ideal -- you're in the middle of everything and walk to anywhere you'll need to go in Edinburgh. The airport bus also stops across the street. It was very... More

The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Most points on interest were in walking distance. The showers were clean and mops and squeegees were provided to keep the floor dry. Why don't more hostels do this? I made Edinburgh my home base while touring Scotland and enjoyed this hostel so much that I kept staying there. There are three... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
